Greg Gee
I started bidding on Priceline for a 4 star downtown LA hotel. The amenities list stated the secret hotel had a business center, and this allowed me to rule out the Biltmore, which is a downtown 4 star hotel that sometimes is the revealed hotel. Although I have been there and I find it very beautiful, its a retro Hollywood design, and I just wanted a more modern hotel for this trip. I felt I would get the Omni or the Westin Boneventure since they both are downtown 4 star hotels and both have business centers, so I kind of rushed my bidding because I did not want the Biltmore to make itself available while I was trying different bid prices. My first bid was 91.00 dollars. This was declined. So I remembered seeing someone else's post here saying that they placed a successful bid and got the Westin Boneventure at 101.00, so I just rocketed up 10 dollars in my bidding to the 101.00 amount. I just felt that even 101.00 would not be accepted and I was then prepared to inch up from that amount. Foolish mistake I guess, because the 101.00 bid was accepted. I could have at least tested the bidding waters, but I'm really happy to get that hotel for 101.00 per night, and perhaps that amount was the low price anyway tonight. Link to comment
