Any other tips? It seems I am not getting lucky. According to my researches in BetterBidding, people seem to have found better deals them me.

 

I even tried Priceline - $180.00 for 3* in TS, MTW, MTE and ESB but did not get anything.

Are you looking for something in particular in terms of hotel? 

 

Rates vary (often noticeably) from day-to-day so what other users are winning for different date/s is not a good indicator.

 

The MSG amenity set above would be a possible match for the Wyndham New Yorker.

The only amenity shown was Free Internet Access!

 

I'm pleased with the deal I got, mostly because of the price and the location!

Some suggestions in this area:

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

Closer, not as good, but still decent: Daniel's Bagels (Third Ave just b/w 37th St and 39tht St (i think it's between 38th and 39th but i may be off by one block)

Jackson Hole Wyoming - (Third Ave at 35th St) one of the best burgers in the city, imo. Service hit-or-miss, but inexpensive by NYC standards and filling enough for dinner or a big lunch

Rio Grande - Third Ave at 37th St (west side of Street, look at base of the off-white residential building, as it's not directly on Third Ave)... great (very strong!!) margaritas and good chips/salsa, but eat your meal(s) elsewhere.
