LHARTWICK Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 New to this forum - I'm trying to bid for San Pedro, CA. I initially put in 3.5 stars for SP and $75. When I tried to rebid I increased the price to $78, but it tells me I also have to add another zone. I thought it was EITHER increase the bid OR add another zone. What am I doing wrong with my rebid? And for that area, ALL of the zones have 3.5 star hotels. According to the rebidding info, I should "add a zone that does NOT offer that star level or higher". Any advice?? I read the rebidding info, but am still confused.
yellowdog Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! I thought it was EITHER increase the bid OR add another zone. What am I doing wrong with my rebid?Increasing your bid isn't enough, you must add a different zone. ALL of the zones have 3.5 star hotels. According to the rebidding info, I should "add a zone that does NOT offer that star level or higher". Any advice??No, you have one (1) free zone when bidding for SP 3.5*. How do you determ the zones? Check again and we'll be happy to confirm it for you. If you still feel unsure can we break it down further to you. I hope this answer your questions? Yellowdog. thereuare Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 To add to the above: Use the method outlined here, Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, to determine your re-bid zones. If you're unable to determine your ONE re-bid zone, try the following: 1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter New Orleans and your dates, and click "GO". 2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above. 4) post your findings and we'll take it from there What are the date(s) of your stay? ... and if you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
LHARTWICK Posted March 24, 2014 Author Report Posted March 24, 2014 Dates are April 4-5, 2014 Here are the star ratings for the area: Long Beach 4*Long Beach Airport 3.5 *Port of Long Beach 3*Rancho Palos Verdes 5*San Pedro 3.5*Torrance Carson 3.5* If I interpret it correctly, Port of Long Beach would be my only free rebid since it's the only area with a lower star rating than San Pedro.
LHARTWICK Posted March 24, 2014 Author Report Posted March 24, 2014 Just tried to bid at $80 and then $83 on my free rebid....no luck. :( I'll try again tomorrow. I expect the Crowne Plaza knows that rooms are getting scarce and they are holding out for almost regular retail price.
Romelle Posted March 24, 2014 Report Posted March 24, 2014 I just checked your free rebid, and it is still correct. But do check it again each time before bidding. Things can change rapidly. I also looked at the Priceline.Express deals. Nothing in San Pedro for the night of April 4, but there is a $96 3* the night of April 5. While not a 3.5*, the rate is getting close to your bidding level if you also count in the 5% discount. Hot.wire has a San Pedro 3* available for both nights, with the average price $120. Romelle
