Hi,

Looking at the dates between April 14th to April 18th in NYC. It is my first time visiting and I've been thinking of staying on the Jersey City side (Hoboken - Weehawken area) and I believe the Hyatt Regency and the DoubleTree are the only ones there (and acceptable as they are close to the PATH for me and easy to get over to NYC).

2 questions:

1) Preferrably would like to stay on the NYC side but at least 3.5* to 4* hotels (I am not entirely sure what is a good location to stay for first time visitors but recommendation would be great!) How much would I be expecting for at least 3.5*?

2) Jersey City- I am thinking a hotel that is at least 4* and close to the PATH as I will have no car. Do you think I can get anything for <$100/night in this area?

I will be flying in so won't have a car, will rely on the public transit for most of the travels around.

Thanks!

These are not the only hotels in the area... there is also a Westin in Jersey City, the W in Hoboken, and the Sheraton Suites in Weehawken.

What would be your maximum budget to stay in NYC for this trip? You could probably stay 'Downtown', which is not the most convenient but still do-able, for $140-$160... anything in Midtown will likely cost you closer to $180-$200/nite.

Not likely.

Hi- there is a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $191 per night

4 Star Hotel in Jersey City - Hoboken - Weehawken Area for $191/night

Rated 8.0 out of 10 (or higher)

Guaranteed Amenities:

Indoor Swimming Pool

Restaurant

Fitness Center

What hotel would this be?

Should I take this deal and apply the "SPRING14" for additional 5% off? Comes to approx. $181 per night.

Or should I just continue with name my price? If I do, how much should I start with?

Also, do you know how long will the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal above expire? Thanks!

The Hyatt or Westin would be possibilities in this case. PRICELINE/HOTWIRE are really inventory-based; there is no date the deal will expire - it all depends on the amount of discounted inventory the hotel offers. This deal may go tomorrow or may be available all the way to your date/s, there is no way to know.

If you bid, I'd start at $140 and work higher by $5's using re-bidding. Please let us know if you have any questions before bidding.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Thanks! Couple more questions as I am expanding my search into the following areas:

1) Madison Square Garden

Priceline Express Deal has: 4 Star Hotel in Madison Square Garden - Convention Area for $185/night

  • Free Internet available

Which one could this be? There are only 2 four stars in this area right? Wyndham and Affinia?

OR

  • Pets Allowed
  • Restaurant
  • Business Center
  • Fitness Center

Depending on which days I choose, the amenities comes up different? Is this Wyndham?

2) Midtown East

Priceline Express Deal has: 4 Star Hotel in Midtown East Area for $168/night

  • Free Internet in public areas
  • Restaurant
  • Business Center
  • Fitness Center

Seems to me this might be either Grand Hyatt New York or The Roosevelt Hotel New York?

Question #1: which location is more convenient or equal for a first-time visitor? MSG or Midtown East?

Question #2: can you comment on which hotels these might be?

We will need to know the dates you're choosing for each search so that we can replicate it on our end and see the offer. Above you mentioned your dates as April 14-18... has this changed or are your dates flexible or not yet confirmed?

What is your budget for this trip?

I see that Central Park South have a deal on this week for $134. Is this possibly the Renaissance 57 Hotel?

Is this on PRICELINE EXPRESS? I see a similarly priced offer but when i click on it i'm given a message that the hotel is no longer available. Are you able to click-thru and it's still available for purchase?

If so, what are the amenities shown to be associated with this property?

I'm not currently seeing this property at all (and nothing at the 4* level near this price point either). If you are still seeing this offer the Renaissance Hotel 57 appears to be a likely candidate.
