MechanicalMan64 Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Hi, Looking at the dates between April 14th to April 18th in NYC. It is my first time visiting and I've been thinking of staying on the Jersey City side (Hoboken - Weehawken area) and I believe the Hyatt Regency and the DoubleTree are the only ones there (and acceptable as they are close to the PATH for me and easy to get over to NYC). 2 questions:1) Preferrably would like to stay on the NYC side but at least 3.5* to 4* hotels (I am not entirely sure what is a good location to stay for first time visitors but recommendation would be great!) How much would I be expecting for at least 3.5*?2) Jersey City- I am thinking a hotel that is at least 4* and close to the PATH as I will have no car. Do you think I can get anything for <$100/night in this area? I will be flying in so won't have a car, will rely on the public transit for most of the travels around. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 ... and I believe the Hyatt Regency and the DoubleTree are the only ones there...These are not the only hotels in the area... there is also a Westin in Jersey City, the W in Hoboken, and the Sheraton Suites in Weehawken. 1) Preferrably would like to stay on the NYC side but at least 3.5* to 4* hotels (I am not entirely sure what is a good location to stay for first time visitors but recommendation would be great!) How much would I be expecting for at least 3.5*?What would be your maximum budget to stay in NYC for this trip? You could probably stay 'Downtown', which is not the most convenient but still do-able, for $140-$160... anything in Midtown will likely cost you closer to $180-$200/nite. 2) Jersey City- I am thinking a hotel that is at least 4* and close to the PATH as I will have no car. Do you think I can get anything for <$100/night in this area? Not likely. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MechanicalMan64 Posted March 23, 2014 Author Report Posted March 23, 2014 Hi- there is a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $191 per night 4 Star Hotel in Jersey City - Hoboken - Weehawken Area for $191/night Rated 8.0 out of 10 (or higher) Guaranteed Amenities: Indoor Swimming Pool Restaurant Fitness Center What hotel would this be? Should I take this deal and apply the "SPRING14" for additional 5% off? Comes to approx. $181 per night. Or should I just continue with name my price? If I do, how much should I start with? Also, do you know how long will the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal above expire? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 The Hyatt or Westin would be possibilities in this case. PRICELINE/HOTWIRE are really inventory-based; there is no date the deal will expire - it all depends on the amount of discounted inventory the hotel offers. This deal may go tomorrow or may be available all the way to your date/s, there is no way to know. If you bid, I'd start at $140 and work higher by $5's using re-bidding. Please let us know if you have any questions before bidding. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
MechanicalMan64 Posted March 24, 2014 Author Report Posted March 24, 2014 Thanks! There are only 2 four stars in this area right? Wyndham and Affinia? ORPets AllowedRestaurantBusiness CenterFitness CenterDepending on which days I choose, the amenities comes up different? Is this Wyndham? 2) Midtown EastPriceline Express Deal has: 4 Star Hotel in Midtown East Area for $168/nightFree Internet in public areasRestaurantBusiness CenterFitness CenterSeems to me this might be either Grand Hyatt New York or The Roosevelt Hotel New York? Question #1: which location is more convenient or equal for a first-time visitor? MSG or Midtown East?Question #2: can you comment on which hotels these might be?
