As always, used Bidding.Helper.com to seek, compare and finally book this sweet deal in Las Vegas.

For this deal, Thursday night was much cheaper than Friday, with Thurs pricing at about $71/night and Friday at $140 or so.  This was true for all listings that I could see.

Interesting observation:  Hot.wire has started showing multiple properties for the same zone/star level combo now, which is a major plus!  There were actually 3 separate 5* Strip South listings on this search.  I also noticed this in San Francisco searches.  This makes Hot.wire even better to use.  I guess it's a reaction to Priceline.Express which does allow multiple listings for zone/level combos.

Congratulations on your success!

Hope you're pleased with the purchase and looking forward to your trip.

For sometime now HOTWIRE has been showing up to two hotels per zone at the 5* level in Las Vegas (sporadically i'm seeing up to two hotels at the 4* level too, but it's inconsistent at the 4* level). Condos are treated 'separate' from hotels, and on your search you're actually seeing two 5* hotels and one 5* condo in the Strip South zone. I have never noticed multiple hotels at the same star level per zone within PRICELINE EXPRESS, i will keep an eye out for that.

Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase.

Enjoy your stay... and good luck in Vegas!

I thought it had something to do with the casino vs. non-casino hotels, that way Vdara and Trump always show up since they are about the only ones without a casino amenity.  But that's not exactly what's happening.

Also, if you do a search on the exact same dates in San Francisco, you'll find 2 4* USW hotels up for selection.  The only distinction I can see is that one is a "hotel" and the other is a "boutique hotel," however they both list "boutique hotel" as an amenity.

Likewise, in the LV Strip South search, there are 3 5*: one "condo," one "casino hotel," and one "hotel."  But even the "hotel" has a casino as an amenity.

Just to add evidence, New York 4*s are now showing multiple choices per zone.  The new additions are all "boutique hotel"s.

So it's clear that the rule now is there is one listing per  zone x star level x hotel type designation.  The hotel types are:

  • hotel
  • condo
  • casino hotel
  • boutique hotel
  • resort (ex. MIami Beach)

Oh, don't I know it!  I've always wondered if they just have so many programmers, they have to find ways to keep them busy.  Or perhaps they have a whole slew of data analysts whose job it is to pore over all of these experimental features for any sign of incremental revenue.
