Hi, I have just booked flights to New York for 4 nights from 3rd April, its our first visit and we are both celebrating big birthdays. My budget is $230 a night and i want somewhere central where we can walk to most places, ideally Times Square area. We need 2 separate beds and would love a good view of the city. I have just checked out the express deals on Priceline and they look great $224 a night for a 4* in that area. I have checked out the list of some of the 4* hotels they use in that area on your site and they all look great , Westin, Marriott, Doubletree etc, we would be happy with any of them for that price. However wheres the catch? Are they likely to throw in a hotel with bad reviews that you could get for a cheaper price elsewhere? Or one out of the area or of a lower classification? Just wondered what the chances are of getting one on your list. Please help, great site by the way thanks x

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Thanks for the compliments on the site, we're glad you're enjoying the information here and finding it useful. :)

We need 2 separate beds...

PRICELINE guarantees double occupancy, after that it is as the discretion of the hotel. After you learn the name of the hotel you can call them and request a room with two beds, but there is no guarantee that the hotel will be able, or willing, to honor your request (this is especially true in NYC where rooms are typically very small, hotels have a higher percentage of rooms with only one bed, and rooms with two beds is often considered an upgrade (and costs move vs. rooms with only one bed). If this is a must have (vs. a want) you could try: 1) a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that shows the 'Room Choice' option and choose something that offers two beds, or 2) search HOTWIRE for triple/quad occupancy which should ensure separate sleeping accommodations, although the second 'bed' could be a rollaway brought into the room, a pullout sofabed, etc.

...and would love a good view of the city.

This too can't be guaranteed, and again, at many hotels rooms with special views can cost extra and come at a premium.

You could always be the first to report a new hotel to the board, or win a hotel that has been recently upgraded/downgraded since being last reported to the board (see the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List). Assuming the view and number of beds is not a dealbreaker (if it let us know and we'll have a look at other avenues), let's start by having you post the star rating, zone, price, and amenities does the PRICELINE EXPRESS property you are referencing, and we'll take it from there.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
