ChrisO Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 I have been bidding around $125 for as low as 3* over the past several weeks with no success. (Downtown, Capitol, Foggy Bottom) What am I doing wrong? Do I need to wait until closer to my travel dates for the hotels to drop their prices? Thanks.
thereuare Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 The Washington DC hotel market is very event driven, meaning that when any big event is taking place in the city (conventions, government meetings, anything that out of town press would be staying in the area for, rallies, etc) hotel rates increase, and depending upon the event, the rise can be quite dramatic. I did find a Annual Scientific Session and i2 Summit Conference during your dates (3/29-3/31 and/or 3/30-4/2), and while i don't know how big of a conference this is, based upon the agenda i saw, it looks to be pretty decent sized and i would suspect that this is at least a contributing factor to the rates you're currently seeing. Using our sister site, MAPS and HOTELS.com, what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel in the zone(s) that you have been bidding?
