GretchN Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Looking for help with a bidding strategy for NYC... I would like the cheapest possible 3.5 or better. I would LOVE to keep it under $100/night but could go up to $150ish Willing to stay in the following areas (In order of preference) Times SquareMidtown WestCentral Park SouthMidtown EastHell's KitchenChelseaUnion Square - East VillageSoHo

thereuare Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Something under $100 does not seem likely at current rates, and you're more likely looking closer to the $110-$130 range. HOWEVER, PRICELINE EXPRESS has THIS 4 star Times Square (Business Center, Fitness Center) hotel for $134/nite and using the discount link and code in my signature gives an extra 5% OFF bringing this down to $128/nite (NOTE: for a room with a Full Size bed... a King bed would cost $142/nite) Given this is your first choice of zone and 4* rated, and other zones and 3.5* properties won't likely be much cheaper (if at all), do you want to take this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer at this price, OR if you want to try bidding, do you want to limit your bidding to only the Times Square zone (or perhaps only your top 3-4 zone choices)?? Lastly, if you do move forward with bidding and decide to include other zones, note that the CPS has the Hudson Hotel, which while well located has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards), so make sure you're comfortable with a room here before including the CPS zone in your bidding. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. GretchN Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 Thanks for your reply! -- I did see that express deal but I'll wait and take that only if my bidding doesn't work. I'm okay with small rooms - proximity to subway is more important to me than room size. We are seeing a show every night so that's why TS is my top choice... but I could make do with any of the zones listed in my first post!
thereuare Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Thanks for your reply! -- I did see that express deal but I'll wait and take that only if my bidding doesn't work.Assuming it's still offered. ;) I'm okay with small rooms - proximity to subway is more important to me than room size. We are seeing a show every night so that's why TS is my top choice... but I could make do with any of the zones listed in my first post!So to confirm you're willing to accept any of the zones in your first post, but given there is a 4* hotel offered in your preferred zone for $128 (or $142 depending upon what type of bedding you need), what do you want your maximum bid to be for any of these zones at the 3.5* level? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.
