JK.Smith Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 Dear BetterBidding I am new to this site and would appreciate some advise. I am travelling to NYC (solo trip) and staying during the above dates, which I understand is peak season. I hope to stay in any hotel that is 3 star onwards, I am hoping to spend something like USD 110-130 per night, but as I am new to the bidding system, I appreciate and welcome any suggestions about adjusting my budget. To me, a good price matters more than the star of the hotel but of course cleanliness, safety and accessible location is a must. Safety is my concern as I am a solo traveller, I have shortlisted Central Park South, Time Square, Midtown West, Midtown East and Madison Square Garden. Is there any other safe places you would recommend? I hope to get around NYC mainly by foot, so somewhere central is preferable. Any other useful advise is appreciated. Many thanks.
thereuare Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. We will suggest a strategy for whatever you would like, but a more realistic bid price for the zones you've listed is in the $150-$170 range... you may be able to do something in the $125-$145 if you include areas further south such as Downtown and Lower East Side. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know if you're willing/able to make any changes to your original parameters and we'll take it from there. JK.Smith Posted March 7, 2014 Author Report Posted March 7, 2014 Thanks. I have tried bidding in the last few days with no luck. Do you mind providing a bidding strategy for me please? The dates and the desired areas remains the same. Thanks a lot.
thereuare Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 What zones, star rating, and maximum bid(s) have you already tried? What zones, star rating, and maximum bid are you willing to try now? JK.Smith Posted March 7, 2014 Author Report Posted March 7, 2014 Hi there, I have tried MTW,MTE,CPS,ESB,MSG,TS. I have bid for a 3 star and the maximum bid was USD145. I think the areas I'm willing to try are still as above. I'm willing to increase my bid price.
thereuare Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 So we don't suggest a strategy that goes higher than you're willing to bid, what is your maximum bid at this point in time? I'll also point out PRICELINE EXPRESS has THIS 4* hotel (Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Business Center, Fitness Center) in the MSG zone for $170/nite, but the discount code and link in my signature gives an extra 5% OFF, bringing this down to $162/nite. Given your previous rejections at the 3* level up to $145, this may also be something to consider given it's a full star rating higher for not much more than you have already been rejected for at the 3 star level. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know if you want to go with the PRICELINE EXPRESS property above, or if you want to try bidding, what you'd like to use for your maximum bid.
