Hotwire Hotel: 4* Chicago (Downtown - Millennium Park - Grant Park) Swissotel Chicago

While hunting Hotwire for a hotel near Grant Park for Lollapalooza (7/31/14-8/3/14), I happened upon a 4* for $174 in Millenium Park-Grant Park.

 

The amenities are:

Free Internet 

Indoor Pool

Fitness Center

Pool (yes, repeated)

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

Self service laundry

Tennis Nearby

 

The win was the Swissotel Chicago, which features King and two Double rooms, and it's about a mile or less from the Lollapalooza gates at Grant Park.

 

So, if you're headed out to the Lollapalooza festival - this is a great deal $35 less/night than the discount on the Lollapalooza website.

Given how bad this period usually is, I think you got a surprisingly good deal for this period. This area is the first usually to fill up/have rates ramp up because it's closer to the concert - then people eventually start going for the cheaper hotels North of the river.

 

I'd say this is less than a mile from the concert - you can't get much closer hotel-wise.  There's a Mariano's Grocery a couple of blocks away at 333 E Benton (I believe that's the address) - great place for taking some snacks/drinks to the concert (if you can bring outside food in.)

 

I'd try writing to see if you could get a higher floor at this property. Lake view is an upgrade, but you could try for a nice river or park view.
