I am in need of 2 rooms for the night of April 5th. My budget is $175 per room. Will be catching train to Newark Airport early next morning. I like Sofitel, Starwood (like the old Essex House), Westin, that caliber hotel. When should I try? What price to start at and what boxes should I tick off. Thank YOU,,

Welcome to Betterbidding,.

Please confirm which zone/s would be acceptable. There is no way to pinpoint a particular hotel or type of hotel when bidding - you have to be willing to accept ANY hotel at the chosen star rating in the chosen zone/s.

Hot.wire is a better choice as you can make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing, but there is still only one hotel per star rating per zone and it may not be the one/s you are hoping for.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

There is no 'midtown central' zone on PRICELINE... did you mean MTW? (if you search 'NYC, NY' via the BiddingHelper.com the default tab that loads will show you all the PRICELINE zones as well as a map which defines the boundaries of each)

If you look at PRICELINE's zone, are any others acceptable?

Also, are you four people heading to the airport that morning, as i think there are better option than the train.

Please confirm the zone(s) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I am interested in zones 2,11,12,16.

There are 3 of us headed to Newark, 2 for a 10:30 AM flight and one probably on either a 7AM or 6:30 PM flight. The other will take the train back to New Haven, Ct.we could also take the bus to the airport from grand Central.

Please list the zones by PRICELINE name, not by number, as the numbers will change any time PRICELINE adds, removes, or changes the name of a zone.

So you're looking at CPS, MTE, MTW, and TS? If so, note that the CPS contains the Hudson hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)... would this be an acceptable outcome?

As you didn't list them, i assume ESB, MSG, and/or Chelsea don't work for your needs this trip?

During the night I came across what I felt was a good price for Courtyard by Marriott Times Square West for $160. I went ahead and booked it.

This price was direct from their website.
