mark174ace Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Hello all, I am headed out to Vegas 3/24-3/31 by myself. I have already made a reservation at a cheaper hotel as a backup plan, but I wouldn't mind trying to steal a deal for the Vdara if I can even if it isnt for the whole time I am out there. I was hoping for some bidding advice from the experts as I have not done this in quite some time. I used to use priceline and sites like this all the time, but I am way out of practice! Last time I looked on priceline it was 170 night. Do you think I could get in at 115 (not including the resort fees of course).
thereuare Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Are you only interested in the Vdara or are you willing to accept other 5* properties in the Strip South (or Strip North acceptable too?) zones? Searching PRICELINE EXPRESS for 3/24-3/28 there is a 5* hotel in the Strip South zone with: Free Internet in room Outdoor Pool Free Parking Business Center Fitness Center ... and lists 'Deluxe Suite' as the room type. This is consistent with the Vdara and that would be my best guess for this one. It is priced at $122/nite, but using the discount link and code in my signature gives an additional 5% OFF, bringing the room rate for this one to $116/nite, which i assume you can extend your budget by $1/nite. ;) The same hotel is offered for your complete stay for $133/nite (less 5% brings this too $126/nite) but not sure if the extra $10/nite is worth not having to change properties during your trip and having (assuming our guess is correct) the hotel you're hoping to target for your complete trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or the PRICELINE EXPRESS link in my signature if you decide to go that route) Let us know how it goes or your thoughts as to how you'd like to proceed. mark174ace Posted February 28, 2014 Author Report Posted February 28, 2014 Thanks for the help! I wouldn't object to switching hotels. I would like to specifically stay at the V because the rooms look great and I like the quiet. If I do break it up I would be more interested in staying at Vdara the last 3–4 days of my stay which I would expect to be more expensive because Fri & Sat involved. Is there a possibility the price may come down the closer we get to my departure date because they want to fill rooms?
AaronJB Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 There is no way to know if rate/s will come down closer to the stay, it all depends on demand and if traffic is coming in above/below expectations. However, there have been a lot less instances of last minute price drops in the last few years as demand overall has ramped higher. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Keep in mind that if/while you wait for prices to come down $10/nite this hotel could disappear entirely from the offers and be replaced with a different 5* hotel that you may not like as much. Depending how much you want to target this specific property, i would either pay the extra $10/nite to not have to change hotels, OR lock in the first few nites at this rate and then hope for a rate drop for the latter nites of your stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress/decisions or how we can be of further help.
