Are you okay with further North? The Glenview/Northbrook areas usually offer either a better value or better hotels for similar money. Billybilly300 Posted February 27, 2014 Author Report Posted February 27, 2014 I'm heading to Chicago for a bowling tournament at Waveland Bowl which is on March 6-7. It seems like that Evanston/Skokie area is my best choice in terms of hotel rates along with free parking. I've found a 3.5* hotel in that area for $64/night. Should I post the info for that hotel on this thread or start a new one?

If you are driving in and driving to Waveland, I'd stay at the Doubletree. The hotels in Evanston do charge for parking (although they rarely show up on HOTWIRE / PRICELINE), but not nearly as much as the hotels downtown. The Doubletree is also not a far drive from Hackney's, which is an institution in in the 'burbs - it opened in 1939 and still sits tucked away in a residential area that built up around it.
