Diva Shiney Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 We are planning for family vacation for a week in Key West (preferably) or closeby (Marathan etc). We want a good resort/hotel. Most of Marathon or Islamorada hotels have bad reviews (dirty, outdated, not next to water). Key West hotels are very expensive. Our budget is up to $250/night. But most of the hotels/resorts seem incredibly expensive ($300, $400 or $600). Could someone please help me find a deal to book a hotel? We are looking for Mar last week (Mar 22 to Mar 29). Thanks.Diva
AaronJB Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 How many people are in your party? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Diva Shiney Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 just we couple - two of us.
thereuare Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 HOTWIRE had a 3* hotel in Marathon for $226/nite that has a 95% recommendation by previous guests and a 4.0/5.0 on TA, as well as includes a Free Breakfast, shows these amenities: Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Free Internet Pet Friendly Oceanfront Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower Best guess for this one would be the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Marathon. Not sure if this is suitable for you for this stay, but the reviews do look good and most else fo what i'm seeing is more expensive, as you indicated. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? You also may benefit from not arriving on a Saturday and/or staying thru Friday nite, as this makes you 'split' both the weekend of your arrival as well as the weekend of your deparatuare... a Sun-Sun or Friday-Friday may make things a little easier (although still difficult as this is a notoriously tough area to get great deals) I think your options open up a bit if you're willing to raise your budget to $300 +/- $25. Diva Shiney Posted March 6, 2014 Author Report Posted March 6, 2014 Thank you. We have planned for dates so that we are staying at Miami beach 4 days from Mar 20 (Thursday) to Mar 24 (Monday), and then Mar 24 (Monday) to Mar 28 (Friday) at Key West. Still not getting deals for Key West even though we are staying in weekdays. My Price.line bid for $240 for 3.5* or higher got rejected for Key West old town. Please advise.
yellowdog Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Is Marathon and Islamorada out of the picture? My Priceline bid for $240 for 3.5* or higher got rejected for Key West old town. You're bidding to low. It's spring break in Florida and the rates are very high. I belive you're looking at a minimum of $300/night (if not more) for your dates. What is your max budget/night before tax/fee's? Is old town the only zone you want to stay in? Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel in any of the zone(s) you're bidding? Let us know and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. Yellowdog.
Diva Shiney Posted March 6, 2014 Author Report Posted March 6, 2014 Yeah we would prefer to stay in Key West Old Town preferably. I did not see good reviews for Islamorada. Marathon only seem to have basic hotels with average views. We could go for Hawk Kay but not finding good price. Few months ago, we did see $197/night but not anymore :( We could go up to $275/night before tax/fee but beyond that, it becomes difficult to justify the prices. So far looking at PRICELINE, HOTWIRE, Hotels.com, and other sites, best I could find was $349 for Parrot resort I think. Thanks again for your help!
yellowdog Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 We could go upto $275/night before tax/fee but beyond that, it becomes difficult to justify the prices. You can try bidding up to your $275 limit but I'm pretty sure that you don't hit anything since rates are so high for your dates. The only advice I have is that you lower your rating for the hotel if you want to keep your budget. Let us know how we can help you further with your stay. thereuare Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 The only advice I have is that you lower your rating for the hotel if you want to keep your budget.... or choose a different, less expensive area, for this trip and consider Key West for a future vacation. You could also split your stay even further, only 2 nites in Key West (and paying up for them) and then staying elsewhere (less expensive) for the other two nites you originally planned in Key West. Diva Shiney Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 Thanks. We did split 8 days into 4 days Miami and 4 days Key West..but will rethink if should further reduce days at key West. I will let you know once we book.

Diva Shiney Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 I am seeing this secret deal in hotwire for 3/24 to 3/28. Could you help figure out which one it is? Key West Downtown area $319/night This hotel charges a resort fee of about $25.00 per room per night Amenities Free Internet Pet friendly Oceanfront hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Tennis Nearby TripAdvisor rating: 4 out of 5.0
thereuare Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? Using the method above this is what i'm seeing for the 4* hotel offered in this zone for your dates: Free Internet Pet Friendly Oceanfront Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Tennis Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower If this is what you're seeing, my best guess for this one would be The Westin Key West Resort and Marina. Diva Shiney Posted March 17, 2014 Author Report Posted March 17, 2014 If it is Westin Beach Resort or B Ocean Fort Lauderdale, I would like to reserve now!!
