marianne001 Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 I saw a hotel for 269 USD a night from 9/21 - 9/26 Upper West Side, 95% recommended, 4,5 out of 5 on tripadvisor, location 4,5 AmenitiesFree Internet Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundryroll in shower AccessibilityAccessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Do you know which hotel this is? Do you know if it is better to book a hotel at this moment or wait untill a week or 2 weeks before? What is your experience with prices of the hotels?
thereuare Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you also see a ROLL-IN SHOWER amenity associated with this property? If so, best guess for this hotel would be the Lucerne Hotel. There is no way to know if prices will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay. Assuming we are correct with our guess above, i'm currently seeing this property offered at offered at $312/nite... so you need to decide if the savings vs. a conventionally booked room is worth locking in at this point in time. Also, consider how much you want to try and target this actual property, as besides price risk, there is also the risk that this property disappears from the offers entirely and doesn't return on any of your future searches. marianne001 Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks for your reply. We Will wait a little bit longer. We actually want to spend 200 USD on a 4 stars in the area's: midtown, upper or lower east/westside, times square with good points for location. Do you think this is mannagable? Or do we have to raise our price or lower our stars?
thereuare Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, over the next 6+ months... the NYC hotel market is somewhat correlated to the economy (lots of business travel in NYC) and that is big unknown at the moment (along with quite a few other factors that will likely effect rates for these dates). thereuare Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 The Wyndham Garden Chinatown would be my best guess for this one. AaronJB Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 I'm seeing a different 3.5* in the MTC zone when searching this evening. The LES 3.5* is the Wyndham Garden Chinatown. Are you looking for something in particular in terms of hotel? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
marianne001 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Report Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks for your reply. The only thing we look in a hotel is: 1) good location (restaurants walking distance and Metro very nearby), nice neighboorhood in Manhattan and not too expensive but all hotels are expensive in that period!
AaronJB Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 Unfortunately, NYC is traditionally expensive in the Fall and first half of Winter, with few exceptions, such as the days right before Thanksgiving. There is no way to guarantee a hotel near a subway station (depending on how you define 'near'). I'm seeing what appears to be the Wyndham New Yorker for $209 in the MSG area - that would be a much more central location than UWS or LES. Would that be of interest? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
marianne001 Posted September 11, 2014 Author Report Posted September 11, 2014 Eventually we rented an apartment because the hotels were too expensive. We booked both Boston and Washington through Hot.wire. I also reported that. Thanks again
