We are going to be in San Diego from February 20-25 and would like to rent a car while there. We successfully got a room using Priceline (thank you thereuare) and would like to learn about bidding on cars as well. While on vacation, the only way I have ever rented a car is through Budget Rent-a-Car. So, do I look at their daily rates for those days and then bid a lower price? How much lower do you bid on cars? We are just looking at something simple, like an economy car.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay for car rental? What rate/s are you seeing on the regular rate side? Additionally, what size car are you interested in?

Well, it looks like the economy and/or cars are about $30/day. Would it be unreasonable to bid $20/day?

With time on your side i would start at $15 and increase every 24 hours try the following amounts: $18, $20, $23, $25 (or whatever your maximum bid is at this time)
