nancb1 Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Going to Vegas in May, and none of my bids are being excepted on the strip for 5 star. Even went up to $160 a night. Am i just too far in advance for them to except my bids? Thats my best guess. Thanks

nancb1 Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 Hi again. Ok checked msg, read, done!my dates aren't until May3-7th. Probably too far away to get a cheap 5 star i'm guessing, as i read another guy got wynn for $90 a few days before his trip. Best to hold off till the month or so before travel? Thanks

yellowdog Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 nancb1my dates aren't until May3-7th. Probably too far away to get a cheap 5 star i'm guessingI'm sorry t osay that there's no general answer to your question. Please read this link: Should i Bid Early or Close to Arrival Date as i read another guy got wynn for $90 a few days before his tripRates are date specific so you can't really compare other rates since your dates are diffrent to OP.I took a look at your dates. Rates are on the high side ($300+) for both Nort/South Strip so your bid at $160 is pretty far away with the current rates. And I don't belive that the rates are high because month of May it's far away. Are you going to LV for a conference?Would you like wait or are you willing to look at a 4*?Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.

Best to hold off till the month or so before travel? The other user's win at $90 was more likely do to there being very low occupancy for their dates and therefore rooms are priced cheaper to begin with, and the hotel is willing to deeply discount rooms in order to fill them... if occupancy/demand is high for your dates you're starting with a higher base rate and the hotel may not feel as much of a need to discount as deeply. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nancb1 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Report Posted February 8, 2014 Thanks....Yes i am can wait, in no big hurry to book, i will keep my eye on the rates weekly until 5 or 6 weeks out, and then book something. Thanks
AaronJB Posted February 9, 2014 Report Posted February 9, 2014 Thanks for keeping us updated. I would definitely keep an eye on rates, as if there is something going on on these date/s (whether a convention or other event), it's definitely best to try to lock something in at a reasonable rate as rates can certainly go higher (they don't always go lower closer to the date/s.)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
