krhengl Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 I am looking to book a 4.5* hotel in the Mag Mile area for the weekend of 3/7-3/9. Any suggestions for what I should put my starting bid at? I am afraid to do a 4* because I do not want to get the W Lakeshore Drive since it is under renovation. Thanks
AaronJB Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? The W hasn't been seen very often as a PRICELINE win, but if you are trying to avoid it and go for something at the 4*, you could also consider HOTWIRE to see if the W is/isn't showing.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

krhengl Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 I want to stay under $125 a night so hoping that I can get 4.5* for that price I will bid on PRICELINE. If I can't win then I will try HOTWIRE for 4* to avoid the W. Just trying to get an idea of an opening bid for 4.5*, willing to go up to $125 but would like to try to get it for cheaper. Thank you for your help and the email.
AaronJB Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 At the 4.5* level for these dates I think you could start at $65. That could very well be too low, but it's worth trying. HOTWIRE has a 4.5* for $87.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

krhengl Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 Thank you for your help- I will start with $65 using the rebid zones if needed through the PRICELINE link and update with what happens.
krhengl Posted February 9, 2014 Author Report Posted February 9, 2014 Just wanted to update everyone that I did my bidding tonight on Priceline and got the InterContinental for $85 a night for 3/7-3/9. Very happy with that -- I started at $65 then my husband got really antsy about the rebid areas and made me jump up to $75 that was rejected and we went up another $10 to $85 and it was accepted! Thanks so much for all the help.
AaronJB Posted February 9, 2014 Report Posted February 9, 2014 Congrats on your success. :)Great win for this centrally located property! This hotel also has a very cool history, including a gorgeous pool - the pool was one of the first public pools built on a high floor and was considered an engineering feat when it was first built. Let us know if you have any Chicago city questions.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
