Demonikaan Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 I'm a new member and after some reading up I have a couple of questions. I plan to go to Vegas from the 20th of February until the 24th of February. It's just me so it would be for one adult.I used the bidding helper tool and one offer showed up on Hotwire Easy View for $49 a night (a 4* on the Strip - South) , with amenities: Free Parking, Free Internet, Resort, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Golf Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower- Are these prices including resort fees and taxes or do they come on top of this?- Which hotel could this be?- Does it makes sense to put in a bid lower than this price? (say $35-40)Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please read your messages.Resort fees are paid directly to the hotel and are additional to the price you pay PRICELINE / HOTWIRE.Best guess for the HOTWIRE property above would be the Tropicana Hotel and Casino. If you want to try bidding for this stay you have FOUR re-bid zones when bidding 4* in Las Vegas. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Strip South...Bid $38, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $48If the above is rejected you can then take the HOTWIRE offer if you'd like.Feel free to ask any questions you may have (especially regarding re-bidding if you're new to the subject)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Demonikaan Posted February 6, 2014 Author Report Posted February 6, 2014 I just found out that this hotel is charging about $20/night in resort fees, that would be almost half of the price offered, is this considered a normal fee on/around the strip? I suppose there is no way around this fee right? I was quite shocked, I thought we were talking about a couple of $$ a night.
thereuare Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Almost all the Vegas hotels on the strip now charge resort fees... unfortunately resort fees are a growing trend throughout the entire hotel industry. There are a few properties that have started to make the resort fee optional on PRICELINE / HOTWIRE purchases, but it doesn't seem to be applied consistently, so it's a "hit or miss" thing and not something i think you can rely on (nor is there a way to specifically target these properties)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide or how we can be be of further help. Demonikaan Posted February 6, 2014 Author Report Posted February 6, 2014 I didn't win the bid unfortunately. I checked Hotwire today and there is a 3* hotel for $28 offered on the Strip (North) with amenities:Free Parking, Resort, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Internet access, Golf Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in showerThis seems like a good choice to me, which hotel could this be? I tried to look for a match but I couldn't find one that exactly matched. The one closest to the pricerange would be Excalibur but they have very little amenities listed on Priceline. Also if I would start bidding for this one, I don't have any re-bidding options right? Thanks again!
thereuare Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 The Excalibur is located in the Strip South zone but you have stated that the 3* property above is located in the Strip North zone, so this definitely is not the Excalibur. My best guess for this property would be the Stratosphere. Not sure how familiar you are with Vegas, but if you're going as a tourist and to 'hotel hop' and explore the Strip (as opposed to strictly going to gamble at one casino), you really want to stay between the Tropicana and the Wynn, which is the main part of the strip... once you go further North of the Wynn you start to leave what most consider to the 'the strip'.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Demonikaan Posted February 6, 2014 Author Report Posted February 6, 2014 Alright thanks.Im a poker player so I'm going there to play poker games in different casino's, so I will be hopping around casino's quite a bit. In that case I guess it would be best for me to stay on the actual strip. The cheapest 4* now went up to $61 so I will keep checking for better prices.

Demonikaan Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 My max for this trip is $55-$60/night with $60 being the absolute max. I don't need a super luxurious hotel because I will be spending most of my time in the casino anyway (but min 3*), as long as it is on or within reasonable (walking?) distance of the Strip. Thanks for the help so far guys!
thereuare Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 I don't see anything within your budget at the moment that would be on, or guarantee you walking distance to, the Strip.Use our BiddingHelper.com to continue to check rates for your dates.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know how we can be of further help along the way.
