xjasonx Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 looking to stay at the golden nugget in old town, Expedia places it at $134 (avg) per night.am i right in assuming that golden nugget is the only 4+* hotel in old town still? looking to get a good bid strategy!thx!!
thereuare Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. With the above noted, the Golden Nugget is the only 'known' 4* hotel reported to the board in this zone, there could always be others that we don't yet know above which have been recently upgraded OR added to the PRICELINE / HOTWIRE system (see the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel Lists and Hotwire Hotel List).PRICELINE EXPRESS has what appears to be the Golden Nugget for $91/nite, OR you can try bidding on PRICELINE for a lower price for any 4* hotel in the zone (on the assumption that there would be others)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts/questions and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
xjasonx Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 thanks! i havent heard of/used PRICELINE EXPRESS yet. if its showing $91 what is a typical bid that would be accepted for a fri-sat-sun stay? im assuming anything more than 10% discounted would be worth looking at. otherwise cut the hassle book now.im hoping that golden nugget is still the only 4* :)
AaronJB Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 At this point with only a couple of days before the stay, I'd start at $75 bidding for a 4* in the zone and work higher by $5's.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
xjasonx Posted January 28, 2014 Author Report Posted January 28, 2014 purchased thru the PRICELINE EXPRESS link on the site:4* Fremont St. Hotel on Priceline express for $91 a night. Turned up the Golden Nugget! Score for me! thanks everyone!I tried to bid at $75 (denied) then started to get scared reading about peoples unsuccessfull free rebid attempts decided to just go with priceline express.. we def wanted the golden nugget and got it for a very fair price.anyone know the other vegas forums on tip for the $20 trick and buffet/show deals?
AaronJB Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Congrats on your success. :)Great deal for this property and glad you are looking forward to your stay. Can you confirm the amenities that were showing with this listing prior to purchase? Thanks.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
