Mauricio Fontes Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 Need some experienced help. I am bidding for London 5 and 4 stars most of the zones without success. The dates are from April 24th to May 1st (7 days). Nothing at 5* until $130 and 4 until $120.Is it better to split the stay and then put some more nights after I get a win. Does it always have the possibility of buying extra nights? Thanks.
Mauricio Fontes Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 Please forget my 02:31 PM post. AaronJB Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 If your date/s are all equally busy, then splitting your stay does not offer any benefit. It's really only optimal if part of your stay is noticeably busier than the other part. You are not always given the option to extend your stay (it may be offered at a higher price.)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Romelle Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Need some experienced help. Thanks. You might take a look at Hotwire. For your 1st 5 nights, there is a 4* offer for Kensington at $103. It steps up to $142 for your last 2 nights. Or $133 for all 7.For Priceline bidding, this suggests you split your bid 5/2. Some other rates I looked at suggest a 4/3 split. One can often do a little better via Priceline than Hotwire, but Priceline doesn't always average effectively. Or a specific hotel might not have Priceline availability for all 7 nights. I think I'd first try bidding for the first 5 nights up to my max budget (keeping in mind that the last 2 nights likely will be more expensive). If unsuccessful, I'd try bidding for the first 4 nights (again keeping in mind the probable higher cost of the last 3).Romelle
dabs Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 I think your 4* in Notting Hill from post #8 is the Corus Hyde Park 17 Lancaster Gate London, GB, W2 3LG. I just bought it on Hotwire for $104+tax for April 11-13, $263.97 total for 2 nights. The regular rate is 111£ including tax ($368 for 2 nights) so $104 off. Wasn't listed on the Hotwire list, I can't say I'm thrilled but I'm also glad I don't have to stay at the Tune Paddington Free InternetSmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterSelf service laundryInternet access
