andoted Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 HelloI am looking to finish a holiday in the states with 4 days in Washington DC, arriving April 15th and leaving on the 19th. From reading the forums and other websites I am led to believe that one of the better areas to stay would be Downtown - Whitehouse. Ideally therefore I would like to stay around here in a four star hotel, however am I living in a dreamworld if I keep holding out for a deal around the $100 a night mark? I have seen that recently a couple of people have been successful but have they been really lucky or should I keep on waiting? Do you also think I should look to stay in other areas, such as Dupont Circle? What would be the best tactics to snare such a bargain!?!?!Many thanksTed
thereuare Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay. You will likely improve you chances by adding Dupont Circle and/or Capitol Hill to your bidding (it can't hurt as it gives more hotels the opportunity to accept your bid price) BUT at current rates i think you will more likely need to be in the $125-$150 range to be successful for a 4* hotel.Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for your dates thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Please include the star rating and room rate per nite in your posts as this makes it easier for us to find the hotel you're inquiring about when we replicate your search... the Foggy Bottom property above is 3* rated? If so, my guess for this one would be the Savoy Suites Hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. andoted Posted February 12, 2014 Author Report Posted February 12, 2014 Hello againI am still keeping an eye on the hotels for my travel dates in Washington DC - 15th April to 19th. I have just seen a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for those dates for a 5 star hotel at 138 per night. The amenities are listed as Free Internet in roomIndoor Swimming PoolPets AllowedRestaurantBusiness CenterFitness CenterAny ideas? I'm guessing the Park Hyatt Washington. If so, do you think this is a better hotel / location for general sight seeing than the Hyatt Regency? Many thanks
thereuare Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 Is this in the Georgetown-Foggy Bottom zone?I'm not seeing any 5* hotels offered on PRICELINE EXPRESS (in any zone in the region) when searching for your dates... are you still seeing this on your won search? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. andoted Posted February 27, 2014 Author Report Posted February 27, 2014 Hi again I'm still holding out for a good deal for my Washington dates - 15th April for 4 nights. I have found on Priceline.Express a deal for Foggy Bottom, 5* a hotel for $134 per night. This is a little more than I wanted to pay but I think this is a good area for us to stay and visit the popular tourist attractions and having kept an eye on the prices I don't know if it will get any cheaper. I'm guessing its the Park HYATT, what do you think? If so, do you think I should jump on this deal or hold out a bit longer!?!?!?! Choices, choices, choices! Many thanks
AaronJB Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 A 5* in DC for the Spring for $134 is - I think - a good deal. There is no way to know for sure if it will go down further between now and your stay, but that is a very reasonable rate for a 5* and I'm doubtful it will go much lower. If anything, it could easily go higher. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
andoted Posted February 27, 2014 Author Report Posted February 27, 2014 You're right - its already gone up 10 dollars a night!
andoted Posted March 24, 2014 Author Report Posted March 24, 2014 Hi again Still looking for a good deal in DC for April 15th to 19th (4 nights) - on hotwire there is the following 4 star hotel in White House downtown for 124 dollars a night, amenities are listed as: ◾Pet friendly◾Smoke Free Rooms◾Fitness Center◾Restaurant(s)◾Business Center◾Internet access Any ideas on which hotel this might be? I have provisionally booked the Hyatt Regency Washington DC but have the option to cancel - regardless of what you guess the hotel above might be, do you think I should be jumping on this deal or shall I stick with the Hyatt Regency Washington DC? Many thanks Ted
thereuare Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 Best guess for the property above would be the Westin Washington DC City Center. What is the address and room rate of the Hyatt you have booked as a back-up? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
