gbs Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Have been bidding for over a week trying to get 3 rooms at Ft. Lauderdale Airport At 3.5*, I have 2 free rebids at Airport North and Miramar. Sheraton price is $167.3* has only one re-bid at Airport North. Price is Hilton at $122, HOliday Inn Express is $139, Holiday Inn is $181, Fairfield Is $169, Springhill is $194, Courtyard $211.I have bid 3.5* up to $95, 3* up to $81. Are my chances of getting a good bid less if I am bidding for 3 rooms at a time? Should I try just one room at a time and figure we just might all be at different hotels? Thanks for any help you can give me!
AaronJB Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Please confirm the date/s of travel and we would be happy to take a look and offer our thoughts/suggestions.Also, what would be your desired budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
gbs Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 I am so sorry!! It will be for one night..March 3. We are willing to spend around $100 or so…we are flexible. Saw PRICELINE was offering several 3* tonight for $106.
thereuare Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Bidding on 3 rooms is usually a 'non-factor', but if it is a factor, it is to the downside. For example, assume the lowest price for a 3* hotel in the zone you are bidding is $100, but PRICELINE only has one room at that rate, you couldn't win this property at this rate since there are not enough rooms to fulfill the number of rooms you need, and PRICELINE would then go on to the next hotel that does have the number of rooms you need available. At current rates it looks like ~$100 for a 3* hotel is in the right ballpark, are you willing to bid up to this amount now for a 3* hotel... OR you could book the Hilton (please use this link) for $129/nite which appears to be refundable (always double check the terms to confirm refundability). You could then use this as a back-up in hopes of lower rates for a PRICELINE win as you get closer to your arrival, while also protecting yourself from rates rising from here.Is the Airport zone the only one that you're willing to accept for this trip? Is this for a pre-cruise stay by chance? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gbs Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 thanks for your input. No, it is not a pre-cruise stay…we are returning from a trip to Central America and some in the group have a very early morning flight out. So we would prefer to stay at a hotel close by with a shuttle service. I am debating the merits of trying to "win" a bid at $100 when I can book a sure thing for not much more than that….???

You can search near the airport and easily see how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating OR to stay closer/further from your ideal location. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases (or the links in our Support Page should you decide to book direct) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

gbs Posted January 30, 2014 Author Report Posted January 30, 2014 Just to let you know, I tried bidding a couple of more times….no luck. I finally just booked the Express Deals through PRICELINE since we are running out of time. $106 for a 3* hotel in the airport zone. Got the Cambria Suites. I don't know anything about them, but it has free internet and shuttle, which are both important to us. Hopefully, we can also get a good night's sleep! The going price on their web-site for this night was $159, so even though I didn't get a great deal for a good hotel, it is probably a fair deal. Thanks for your help Booked through the PRICELINE link on your website.
