AaronJB Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding.I think my one note is that, while staying in budget is understandable, I would take time cost and literal cost into account if you are staying outside of the city. It is still COLD in NYC in Feb (at least most years and will be this year if the weather in the upper US continues like it has been this Winter.) It's difficult enough to try and go all around in very cold weather, but especially over the span of a week, I think it will become very tiring. The LIC hotel has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess the Holiday Inn Express may be a possibility, given the 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating I'm seeing on the detail page.Do you only need one bed? If so, I'd really encourage you to consider staying in Midtown if possible. Unfortunately, it may be a little over your budget, but I think in the cold weather over a week, it's time, effort and transit costs to get from LIC to the city and back every day.If you only need one bed, you could consider bidding on PRICELINE instead for Midtown Manhattan.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
brusmaskin Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 Thank you for your quick reply:)We could try pricline as we don't need two bed as long at is a double bed, at least queen size. Could you help me for a bidding strategy? I'm sure sure right about staying in Manhatthan is the smartest thing. It depends though how much more expensive it will be.. I think we are going to williamsburg at least one or two days anyways.I'm not shure though if the hotel fro HOTWIRE is the holliday inn. As its listet to have a indoor pool, I can't see from Hotels.com that the holliday inn will have that. Thanks!
thereuare Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 At current rates, under $100 all-in for a 3* hotel in NYC is going to be difficult for these dates, imo... if you could stretch your budget to a $100 bid price i think you would increase your chances, although the budget would still be a bit challenging.Regardless of whether you're able to increase your budget or not, if you'd like to move forward with PRICELINE bidding please let us know which zones, by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept, and confirm your maximum bid price, and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. brusmaskin Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 Yes, lets strech the budget up to a $100 bidprice and hope for a great deal. The areas I would like is 12 Midtown West, 7 Hells Kitchen, 10 Madison Square Garden,16 Times Squarealternatively if I cant get within my budget in these areas I could try11 Midtown east2 Central Park South6 Empire State Building15 Soho Tribeca9 lower East side.I don't really know the areas as I haven't been to NYC before, but as I understand this is central and safe areas. Thanks again!
thereuare Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Here is some info on NYC zones:MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, ESB all typicallly work well for the average userCPS is centrally located but contains the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms which may/may not be an issue for youHK and Chelsea most of these areas are well located but can go a little far west and if you end up in this part of the zone the subway could be a 10-15 minute walk (still quite do-able, just not as convenient as other zones above)Soho, LES, Downtown are less convenient then the zones above, but for the right price, are certainly do-able. Subway access is generally good but if most of your activities are in midtown it's a 20-25 minute ride to get there (including wait time for train, transfers, etc.)Please confirm your zones, or ask questions regarding the above, and we'll then advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. brusmaskin Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 I see, then I'll skip CPS, don't want to wind up in that Hudson hotel after reading its rewiews. We'll go for MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, ESB, and also HK and LES. As I understand there are more independent restaurants in theese areas :)
