Are you searching for more than one room or for something other than the default 2adults/0children, as i'm seeing different offers and/or prices for most of hotels above. See my comments/guesses inline below:

Empire State Building $202.00

--> too many options for this one and i don't have a very strong feeling, but the Hotel Giraffe, Morgans, Strand, Hotel Chandler, Affinia Shelburne, and the Affinia Dumont would all be among the likely possibilities. This HOTWIRE offer does get very good reviews, but you'll need to be flexible on the exact location within the zone.

Downtown - SoHo - Financial District $227.00

--> i'm seeing a different offer, but if this is what you're seeing, my guess for this one would be the Andaz Wall Street

Midtown Central $227

--> my guess would be the Shoreham NYC

Yes we certainly book at some point soon, just wondering why there are over a $100.00 of taxes added for 2 nights accommodation?

NYC hotel tax is ~15%, so on a $225/nite room you are looking at $68 in taxes... the rest is a booking fee.

HOTWIRE booking fees are a little higher than HOTWIRE, so you can consider bidding on PRICELINE or PRICELINE EXPRESS too, and compare the 'all-in' amount for each to determine your best deal.
