simonb3665 Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Hi, Great site. We are looking for a hotel for two in New York. Location wise looking for something around times square ideally but we have never been before and are really just looking for something that is relatively central for visiting the attractions. Our budget is more value based but as a minimum we want clean and with a non shared bathroom. It really is just a base for exploring and we dont plan on spending much time in the hotel itself. Maybe $200 a night but would hope for at least 4 star for that amount. I have searched through the bidding helper and spotted the followingMadison Square Garden - Hell's Kitchen $128 a night3.5 starFULL AMENITIES: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Business Center, Self service laundry, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower80% recommendedIt seems good value. Do you have a best guess at which hotels they will be?I will follow through post to conclusion.
yellowdog Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Best guess would be Element Times Square West. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know what you ultimately decide or if we can be of further help.yellowdog.
simonb3665 Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 Thanks for that. Prices seem to have gone up since I last looked ran the search so I think I will wait and see if it comes back down or see if if something new comes up.

simonb3665 Posted January 21, 2014 Author Report Posted January 21, 2014 That particular deal is gone now so the price rise seems to corralate with selling well. Back to looking from scratch. The times we are going cover st patricks day. Any opinion on whether prices could come down before then or whether we should book as soon as possible. Thanks again
AaronJB Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 This period is a little bit on the border of a period that is the slowest of the year (Jan/Feb) and when rates start to move significantly higher (April and into May.)I think you have some time to watch rates, but I would continue to keep a close eye on availability. If you see a "good or great" deal, I would recommend taking it versus trying to wait to see if rates come down further, as they could head the other way.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 St. Patrick's Day is usually a busy nite in NYC and will likely result in higher rates than dates the week before and after. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and if you haven't yet, please read your messages.Thanks. simonb3665 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 For info Bid on Priceline for Mid east 4* 15/3 to 20/3 and bid $151.Got the Doubletree Metropolitan by Hilton. Not one I would have choose looking at tripadvisor reviews but good location and about 30% cheaper than other sites offer for the same hotel. It is st Patricks day whilst we are there so rates seem to be very strong for that weekend and didnt want to leave booking any later.

thereuare Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Congratulations on your success! While not your first choice of hotel, glad to see you're pleased with the outcome for the price paid. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
