Hi. Long time reader, first time poster. I've visited both links above.

Trying to find accommodation in Mid april for 3 people (hopefully not sofa bed) in London for 4 nights.

I had a quick look on hotwire (using links) and found: (in order of my interest)

- 3* Westminster - Victoria - Big Ben area for $201 per night, 39% off. (Internet access, business centre, smoke free, 55% recommend)

- 3* Bloomsbury - St. Pancras Station - British Museum area for $222 per night, 46% off, (free breakfast, free internet)

- 2.5* Westminster - Victoria - Big Ben area for $206 per night, (Internet access, business centre, smoke free, free breakfast,

- 4* Westminster - Victoria - Big Ben area for $267 per night (free internet, free breakfast, 85% recommended)

Any idea what hotels they are and whether it will be a double + sofa bed? or am i better off booking two rooms? We only have budget to pay $800- $900 for 4 nights, 3 people.

Thanks !

Welcome to Betterbidding.

A few note/s and questions.

*. HOTWIRE does not guarantee a particular bedding option. If you search for more than 2 people, you should get bedding for the whole party. That may be 2 beds or may be 1 + rollaway or 1 + sofa bed. In London, NY or some other similar cities where rooms are on the smaller side, 1 + sofabed or 1 + rollaway are definite possibilities versus somewhere like Orlando, where 2 beds is more likely. Overall though, bedding is something that has to be worked out with the hotel after booking and you have to hope they are willing to work with you on specific bedding.

*. What are your date/s of travel?

*. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above for all four listings?

*. I would be concerned with a listing that has a 55% approval rating from customers who paid a discounted price. It's not good if a hotel gets negative reviews in general, but I get particularly concerned when expectations of customers who are paying discounted or significantly discounted rates are not being met.

You can also take a look at the hotels that have been reported to the board (and this list also provides the amenities that have been associated with each) here: Hotwire Hotel List Other Countries.

Sharing any previous wins (as separate threads) is greatly appreciated, as the information can still help others.

So seems like I should get two separate rooms.

If the possibility of a sofabed is not acceptable then two rooms would be the best course of action... but that brings your budget down to ~$100/nite, so it becomes a trade-off between budget and comfort/convenience.

I'm sorry to say if looking at the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals and if you're firm on the $100 limit is this your best option.

I also took a look at HOTWIRE and it don't look any better there.

But I would like to add that booking 2* hotels in London is risky business. I strongly advice that you increase your budget a notch.

HOTWIRE got 3* Nothing Hill $112 and 3.5* Kensington $114 another option would be to bid 3* on PRICELINE untill you reach your budget.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there.
