Fanya Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Hi, I am new to all this and I am looking for a room in NYC for 4 nights (the 15th of May till the 19th of May). Should I wait to bid on a room or is now a good time to bid? Preferred areas are Midtown East - Midtown West - Times Square or Central Park South and I would like to pay a max. of $150-$160/night.Am I likely to get a room in these areas at these dates and for this price or should I change something (dates are not flexible)? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. This is traditionally a moderately more expensive time of year with nicer weather and likely some college graduations happening.I would start lower ($125), but I think a 4* in these areas may wind up taking moderately higher than your desired budget ($180-200), depending on zone.) You do have some time to try and bid lower and work towards your desired budget max. If you hit that point with no success, you can then decide whether or not to increase your budget or look at other options.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 NOTE that at the 4* level the CPS has the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms... please confirm if you want to include this zone in your bidding or not and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Fanya Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 Thanks for the tip, I will not include CPS then.
thereuare Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I agree that at current rates you're more likely looking in the $180-$200 area for a 4* hotel. You could improve your chances by including more zones, such as Chelsea and/or MSG, which are generally considered to be well located.Do you want to add either/both of these zones OR stick with only MTE, MTW, and TS?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Fanya Posted January 21, 2014 Author Report Posted January 21, 2014 I am willing to include both MSG and Chelsea.
