Hotwire Hotel: 4* San Francisco (Union Square East) Sir Francis Drake

Used BiddingHelper.com.com to search, bid and book this win in San Francisco. While the Drake would not be my first choice, it is in a great location and has a beautiful lobby bar.

Did try a PRICELINE search as well, but came up empty handed all the way through $170 for USE+FD+SOMA.

Reviews and amenity list seemed to match the Sir Francis Drake, so I knew going in. Retail rates are very steep, even more than your typical weeknight in SF. There must be some event to explain the demand. I doubt it's just because of St. Patrick's Day.

Retail rates at the Drake are $409 for the "Historic" room type. Ouch! Stanford Court has retail rates at $219. Every other 4* choice is north of $300.
