Paulino Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Used your PRICELINE link to bid for 5* in Vegas Strip North for 1/23-1/26 (3 nights; 2 rooms). Tried 3 bids - 76/86/$96 - no luck yet. Budget is $100 (or very close to it). I am also OK with Aria or Cosmo (Strip South Vicinity) - but, do NOT want Vdara (nor Trump). Express Deals is indicating Palazzo for $125. Hotwire was showing a $105 option for Trump mostly - which is not preferred by us. Any other ideas? Thank you.
yellowdog Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding :) I am also OK with Aria or Cosmo (Strip South Vicinity) - but, do NOT want VdaraYou can't bid on or avoid a specific hotel when using PRICELINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.By our latest reports is the Trump located in the Strip Vicinity North, so don't include this zone when you bid.Tried 3 bids - 76/86/$96 - no luck yet. Budget is $100 (or very close to it)I think you're close to hit. I would continue bidding in $3 steps untill you reach your max. If you don't hit any 5* within your budget is your only option to consider a hotel at the 4* since you don't want to risk getting Vdara.Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there.Thanx for using boards PRICELINE links :) Yellowdog.
Paulino Posted January 19, 2014 Author Report Posted January 19, 2014 Tried bidding in increments all the way up to $106 - still no luck :( Also, I know this question has been asked a thousand times already, but I still wanted to check if someone had info on the chances of being upgraded to a room with 2 queens (on the usual Priceline name-your-price booking) - at either the Wynn or Venetian or Palazzo? I am aware of the "Bed choices" option on PRICELINE EXPRESS and the # of adults option on HOTWIRE. But, wondering how likely the 5* hotels on Strip North would give 2 queens on a standard PRICELINE booking?
AaronJB Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 There is no guarantee - the hotel may say yes, say yes but charge a fee (there has been a fair amount of that at the 5* level) or say no. It may depend on hotel, the day or even who you talk to. If you need bedding for more than 2 people, HOTWIRE and searching for 4 is recommended.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ak1247 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Hi,I am going to jump in on this too. I am bidding for 2 rooms 1/24-1/26, aiming for a 5* north or south strip (no trump!). Based on the priceline express deals, it looks like Wynn is available at $123 (down from $130 on Sat) and Vdara at $145 (up from $132 a couple weeks ago).I just put in a bid at $71 (it said median for 5* properties in the area was $78) and was rejected. Will try again tomorrow.
