Leines Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Looking to escape winter with family on budget. Trying to find a clean good hotel for around $40-60(max) a night somewhere near a beach in Florida march 9-15.So far I've found fort Myers 2* 70% recommend $109reg-$36 hotwireWith Free parkingFree InternetPool(s)Self service laundryFree breakfastPet friendlyBusiness centerInternet access. Any thoughts or other Florida areas to check with good success rate at finding good hotel in 2-3* area. Many thanks in advance. Cheers
AaronJB Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board - it does show a mixed 3/5 tripadvisor rating on the detail page of the listing. I'd guess it may be the Travelodge Fort Meyers.Orlando offers reasonable options, but you will likely run into resort fees at many properties.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Leines Posted January 17, 2014 Author Report Posted January 17, 2014 Thanks for the quick reply,That was my guess as well, we are trying to avoid Orlando as theme parks are a lot of money and we are mainly interested in sun and sand. I've looked at fort pierce on the Atlantic side. If I book that hotel for my first night on HOTWIRE, can I be sure it's the same hotel, if I go back to book remaining dates?Cheers
thereuare Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 If I book that hotel for my first night on HOTWIRE, can I be sure it's the same hotel, if I go back to book remaining dates? What are the full details of the hotel you're referring to? (star rating, dates, amenities HOTWIRE associates with the property, room rate per nite, etc?)If you search for the solo nite of your stay and then for the balance, are all the details shown for the hotel on each search identical? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Leines Posted January 17, 2014 Author Report Posted January 17, 2014 This same hotel above would be fine, just booking a week blind on hotwire might not be a great idea, so was hoping to book single, trip advisor the hotel, then book the rest of time should it be up to par... Edit: I've checked and yes it seems everything is the exact same with the single night and the 5 following nights.... Is this a good indication it will be the same hotel?Cheers
yellowdog Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 LeinesI replicated your search and I belive by looking at the first night and then the complete stay that this is the same hotel.A guess would be that this could be the Travelodge Ft. Myers but I'm far from sure. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know what you ultimately decide or if we can be of further help.Yellowdog.
AaronJB Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 You can also see the tripadvisor rating on the detail page for many listings. That won't give you reviews, but you can see if an overall rating is negative or significantly "mixed".Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Leines Posted January 17, 2014 Author Report Posted January 17, 2014 It was 3/5 so mixed but expected for 2* hotel I'm sure...I noticed you book in Florida a bit, can you recommend a hotel or area to search???
yellowdog Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 can you recommend a hotel or area to search???Are you referring to Fort Myers? Or are you willing to stay in a diffrent area?Yellowdog. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.
Leines Posted January 19, 2014 Author Report Posted January 19, 2014 Travelling ith wife and 8yr old daughter just wanted in n sand, coming from northern ontario anything is better then snow!I think I even beat the hotwire deal using kijiji. A couple from Toronto booked a vacation package because they wanted an early flight from Toronto and the cheapest one was with sunwing as a package... They offered the avanti resort in Orlando for 7 nights mar 9-16 for $200. I still have to pay the $8 resort fee.. But I'm not sure I can beat that..Cheers

Leines Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 Well looks like m not out of the weeds yet, I was emailing with this guy, and he said call me in morning ill hold it for you and we will arrange it... Well I guess someone else called before me in the morning and pretended they were me cause when I called the guy was upset he had made a mistake. I told him I have already told my daughter we are going to Orlando, and I really wish he would have been honest with me from the start, he felt really bad, apparently enough that he sent me $200 cash towards the cost of a hotel in Orlando, he called the hotel, looked at weekly rate, and basically gave me the difference between full price and what he was asking for the room on kijiji...So I'm back at square one... Thinking of splitting the vacation half Orlando half back in fort myers or something on the gulf coast beach I can find for reasonable price...Sorry for the confusion... So I'm looking march 9-15/16 area, in Orlando for around $50 including resort fee, and coastal area for the same price range..

thereuare Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 ...apparently enough that he sent me $200 cash towards the cost of a hotel in Orlando...I sure hope he didn't mail you a 'cashiers check' for more than the amount and asked you to keep $200 and mail him the difference, as that sure sounds like where this is headed. Leines Posted January 21, 2014 Author Report Posted January 21, 2014 LMFAO, no and he wasnt a African prince either.. It was an instant bank transfer up here in Canada. Totally on the up n up, I googled his name ad I think he's fairly well off and felt bad he screwed up....The deal I'm looking at appears to be baymont inn Orlando that another member recently got... Just finalizing trip plans with wife before I pull trigger...Cheers

Cheapest I see is $65 a night now...Should I close this and start two new threads for my new searches when I find them???Cheers
