Priceline Hotel: San Francisco - Union Square East

I am looking for a hotel in union square east in San Francisco. The trip is confirmed for Feb 20-23rd, 2014. I would like some tips on a bidding strategy on priceline. We are looking for a 4 or 4.5 star hotel. Our budget is flexible but obviously would like it at the lowest price possible and was wondering how low would a bid be accepted. Thanks

I'd certainly start lower, but at the 4* level you are likely looking at $120-130 +/- a few dollars being required for an accepted bid. At the 4.5* level, you are probably looking at more along the lines of $170-185, but again, I'd start lower than that.

Would you rather focus on a 4* or go for the 4.5*?
