Hi everyone!

I'm a new bidder and need some tips. I'll travel to New York from August 02,2014 to August 12, 2014.

I searched so many hotels and Yotel was the one that I really liked. So I want to name my price and keep my fingers crossed for Yotel. These are my questions:

- Am I too early to bid?

- Should I include the taxes in my bid?

_ Is U$ 160,00 a good bid for a 3,5*?

_ I guess that the last question is hard to be answer, but here I go. Do you think that my chance to get Yotel is a good one or not?

Many thanks in advance, I appreciate any help you can provide me. :)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

First, i'll say that you're doing things a bit backwards. The idea behind the opaque providers is that you can get a great deal on *a* hotel, not choose the one you want and then hope you land it. With PRICELINE bidding you need to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select... there is no way to target, or bid on, a specific property.

As well, the Yotel has never been reported to the board as a win thru PRICELINE bidding, so your chances of winning this property i would say are very slim (as you would need to be the first person to win and report this property to the board, which is possible, but not exactly a high probability bet ;) ). The Yotel has been reported to the board thru HOTWIRE, so if this is the hotel you're hoping to target, you would be better served to start with that service and see if anything is currently offered for your dates that resembles previous reports of the Yotel.

To further directly address your questions:

- Am I too early to bid?
No, especially if you see a hotel offered that appears to be one that you are trying to target. However, for a further discussion of timing your bid, see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' in our PRICELINE FAQ
- Should I include the taxes in my bid?
No, bid prices are room rate only and taxes/fees are additional. On the bid preview screen you will see the total, including taxes/fees, should your bid be accepted.
Is U$ 160,00 a good bid for a 3,5*?
Sounds a bit high to me, but that is based upon your willing to accept other hotels and/or zones, and not just one that you are hoping for.
I guess that the last question is hard to be answer, but here I go. Do you think that my chance to get Yotel is a good one or not?
In your situation this is an easy one, and unfortunately as per my comments above, i think your chances are very low.

Based upon this information, let us know if/how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

The listings only provide hotels that have been reported to the board. Additionally, not all hotels participate on the bidding side of the service. The Yotel may not participate on the bidding side of the service, or may just not yet have been reported to the board as a win.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches..

Hey, everyone!

Yesterday I was bidding on Priceline, but my bid wasn't accepted .....

I will spend 10 days in NY, in August.

My bid was 120 - 130 - 135 - 138 for a 3,5* in MSG.

Do I have to wait some months? Does anyone have a suggestion or a tip?

It's my first time in Priceline.

Thank you!

It's your trip and you know your needs better than we do, but over the course of 10 nites i would assume (and hope that) you will be exploring a LOT more places then just the immediate area around the MSG zone.

As well, not sure how well you know NYC, but i suspect that most places you intend to visit are outside of the MSG zone, as there aren't really too many 'landmark' places within this zone (which is not to say that it's not well located, as it is centrally located and near multiple subway lines), but give how condensed NYC is, how convenient mass transit is, i don't understand how this would be the only acceptable zone (unless there are specific hotels in this zone you are hoping for OR hotels in the other nearby zones that you are trying to avoid)

If this is the only zone you're willing to accept, at current rates i think you're likely looking in the $140-$160 area to be successful at a 3.5* or higher rated property.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Hello everyone!

Please keep all posts in the same thread since posts are for the same stay.

I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process.

Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.
