AKB Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Hyatt Regency Hill Country ResortWe checked in Friday afternoon October 21, 2005 about 3:30. As we pulled into the resort we had to stop in the drive to give our name to a security guard. Then after the first time we would then give our room number. We did have to pay a $10 night resort fee. We opted to do self park rather than valet parking - which would have cost extra. Rooms:We called in advance and requested a two bed and nonsmoking room - which is what we got. The beds were double size. These beds were the most comfortable beds I have slept on in a hotel. Each bed had 4 standard size pillows, 2 large square pillows and 1 large round cervical type pillow. These pillows made for easy lounging to watch tv. The beds are tall - they came almost to my waist level. The tv had cable channels with HBO. You could also have pay per view movies and pay per vidio games. My 13 year old did pay for the vidio games which was $4.99 for 2 hours of play time. We did not pay for any movies - cable tv provided a large selection of shows to chose from. The room also had a large desk and 3 chairs. To get internet hookup was $10 per 24 hours - we did get this option for 2 days. We brought our laptop, but they also had a keyboard that would work with the tv for internet use. Many rooms had balconies or patios - ours did not. Our room had large windows that looked out to a wooded area. The room did have a refridgerator that we used for drinks and snacks we brought with us. There is no mini bar in the room, but they did leave 2 bottles of aquafina water in the room that had a $4.50 per bottle price. The bathroom was a standard bathroom - the sink and counter area was on the outside of the tub/shower and stool area. The towels were thick and soft. No robes were provided. Portico spa shampoo, conditioner, and lotion is provided in the room. The room also has a hairdrier, iron and ironing board, and a roon safe. There was a makeup area with a stool.Resort:There are two pools - one pool and whirlpool are separate and are adult only. The other pool (and whirl pool) has water volleyball and water basketball. This pool also connects to a large lazy river that you can float down on tubes. As you go down the river there are several areas to stop that are more secluded with chairs and recliners to relax. There is also a sandy beach area. This area also has a fire ring that they build a campfire in when it gets dark - we never went to this area, but hear they offered s'mores to make. They have bicycles available to ride around the resort. There is a mile long nature trail. Golf course is on property along with a full service spa. A health club is available. They also have a kids program and private baby siting available. I'm sure there are many other things available that we did not see. We were lucky that the temp was in the 90's - so we mostly took advantage of the swimming pools and activities invoving the pool area. My son did ride a bike one evening along the nature trail. There are many hidden relaxation areas throughout the resort - a bench here or there, an old fashion bench swing for 2, a back porch with rocking chairs. We did not eat at any of the restaurants at the resort so I can't review these. We did order drinks at the pool the first evening - the pool bar/restaurnat was open while we were there. Pool towels are available either at the pool area or health club - which is close by. We had to go to the health club each day. Having a car is a must if staying here - there is no shuttle. We did go to the riverwalk/Alamo area on Friday before checking in and went to Sea World on Saturday. We took a break in the afternoon while at Sea World and came back to the resort to swim, then returned to Sea World in the evening. Check out time is 12:00 noon - we left at 11:30 and there was people checking in - so your room may be ready early to check into. Check in time is suppose to be 4:00 PMWe had a great time here!
