Jkahndvm Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Appreciate the site very much, need a little additional help with this one. $179/night march 19-24. 85% thumbs up. Also "resort" Isn't one of the amenities. Otherwise I would lean towards it being the venetian. Can there be a resort fee and you just don't get warned about it ? Thanks in advance for the help!
thereuare Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Although not seen very often, my guess is that this one may be the Encore. There can be a resort fee even if HOTWIRE does not show it before purchase, although they have been 'pretty good' about disclosing any additional fees for most properties. Whether you would be exempt from paying any additional fee would likely depend upon how much you wanted to make an issue out of it (assuming the property offered does indeed charge a resort fee and that it is mandatory... as optional resort fees likely would not be disclosed)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Jkahndvm Posted January 6, 2014 Author Report Posted January 6, 2014 Thanks! I wouldn't cause a scene about having to pay a resort fee, you get used to it after going to vegas a few times. I just thought it was odd since I thought all the 5 star strip north properties charge one and I've always seen them approximated on hotwire. Last year I was able to Hotwire a room at the Palazzo for march madness which was amazing. Trying hard to repeat the feat again this year. The Encore is a bit of a hike from the rest of the strip so I'm hesitant to pull the trigger. It appears Aria is another "hot rate" option however it's crucial we get two queen beds. Do you happen to know if I select three adults in the search if this guarantees a room with two queen beds ? I ask because for the resort i believe to be ARIA the price increases by $28 per night when I change the number of adults in the search from 2 to 3 which is roughly what they charge to book a double room instead of a king at retail price. It's my understanding that ARIA has very few rooms with two queen beds for some reason. I'm booking two rooms for 6 guys and if there's only one bed I'll never hear the end of it.
thereuare Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 HOTWIRE guarantees accommodations for everyone you include in your search, but two comments regarding your situation above:1) searching for 2rooms/6adults could result in 1room for quad occupancy and 1room for double occupancy, not sure if this acceptable to you or not, but it would better to search for 2rooms/8adults if the price doesn't increase when doing so (or 2rooms/6adults/2children as using children instead of adults may not increase the price if searching for all adults does increase the price)2) while booking for more than double occupancy in a room does mean at least two beds in the room, the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, a rollaway brought into the room, etc... would a pullout sofabed or rollaway work for your needs as a second bed? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Jkahndvm Posted January 7, 2014 Author Report Posted January 7, 2014 I'm sure we could live with a roll away but for me I'd rather do two queens and have two people in a room. My associates are the one being rather thrifty and want to put three guys per room. Palazzo provided up with two queens last year via HOTWIRE without me even asking so that's where I would like to stay again, just not at the current retail price of $311/night! What I read seems to indicate ARIA can be contentious when it comes to accommodating requests for two queen beds so I'lm planning to stick to the Las Vegas strip north. We have two months before our trip so I have time to wait to see if what looks like venetian/palazzo pops up on HOTWIRE. It's my favorite place to stay in Vegas. Very plush.
