Priceline Hotel: 4* Rio de Janeiro (Ipanema-Leblon) Bid Strategy

Hi I need some assistance with a bid strategy for Rio de Janeiro (Aug 17-19). And yes I'll use the PRICELINE link to book. :)

Specifically I am looking at the Sheraton Rio Hotel and Resort which I *think* is currently showing on Hotwire as a 4* in Ipanema-Leblon for 169-172$ a night. What Priceline zone exactly should I be looking at to replicate this? I'm not seeing a map and the zone names are different between the two.

I've placed bids up to $155 in the "Rio de Janeiro" zone for those dates on priceline. Doesn't seem like the listing from Hotwire has been loaded into priceline as nothing comparable is popping up on Priceline Express Deals.

Does it seem like what I am looking at on Hotwire is the Sheraton?

Any hotels offered on HOTWIRE are not necessarily the same hotels that you will receive when biding on PRICELINE. Some hotels participate with one service not the other, as well each service uses different star ratings and boundaries which can have an effect on the hotels you will ultimately win thru each service. As well, not all hotels that participate with the 'bidding' side of PRICELINE necessarily participate with the PRICELINE EXPRESS side (and vice-versa)

For the 4* on HOTWIRE, are these the amenities you're seeing:

Fitness

Pool

Restaurant

Business

Laundry

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

If so, i don't think this is the Sheraton as i believe this property is located in the Sao Conrado - Vidigal zone... the Marina Palace Hotel would be my guess for this one.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to sit on it for a while then and perhaps just book direct through Starwood if rates come down any or Cash + Points availability opens up. I'll update with any changes.
