fernandasantarem Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Good evening ya'll!I'm looking at bidding for a Times Square Theatre District 3 1/2* hotels or better in New York for 10 nights, from Feb 6th through Feb 16th.My search at Hotwire website returned a 3 1/2* hotel at $110 rate with amenities as listed: Smoke free room; Fitness Center; Business Center; Internet Access; In Room Accessibility. The thing is I'm having trouble finding a hotel that matches this description on the list you provide here. As I am a total newbie in using Hotwire and Betterbidding, I'd appreciate any tip about rates and where to stay. Is this the right moment to make the reservation or should I wait until early january?Any help would come in handy. Thanks a lot.
thereuare Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.A property with this amenity set has not yet been reported to the board, but the Manhattan Hotel at Times Square, The Pearl, or the Milford Plaza would all be among the possible candidates (and there could still be others too as these amenities are somewhat common for NYC)Is Times Square the only area you're willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fernandasantarem Posted December 28, 2013 Author Report Posted December 28, 2013 Ideally I'd like to stay in Midtown Central Area or Times Square Theatre District at a 3 1/2 stars (or more) hotel at reasonable rates, something around 100-120usd per day.Do you have any suggestions about Hotels in Midtown Central Area? It seems that the quality of the hotels vary significantly inside the groups and I figure any help may be central for me to take the right decision.Once again, thanks a lot!
thereuare Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 While not my favorite location, the Yotel gets great reviews and appears to be offered for $102/nite. While i don't like this immediate area, this is still do-able as:1) just to the north is Hell's Kitchen (don't be fooled by the name from the 70's, it's not a safe and 'happening' area) with lots of restaurants and bars2) it's two avenues from the subway, but you only have to walk one of these outdoors (an advantage given it can be cold this time of year) as you can walk the second avenue indoors by entering the back entrance of the Port Authority Other options that seem to be available:4* Doubletree Metropolitan for $101/nite (reviews not as good as Yotel, but somewhat more central location)3.5* King and Grove New York $101/nite (basic hotel but good location)Your thoughts on any of these? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fernandasantarem Posted December 28, 2013 Author Report Posted December 28, 2013 Yotel seems to be a great deal! Thanks! Nevertheless, I still want to ask you a couple of things:1) Based on your experience, do think it is worth waiting until early january to make the reservation?2) By any chance is it possible that Room Mate Grace Hotel will become available?Appreciate your help.
thereuare Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 1) Based on your experience, do think it is worth waiting until early january to make the reservation?Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay. However, there is likely more risk to prices going higher (as we have seen rates substantially more than $100/nite) than for them heading much lower (sub-$100 is seen only during the slowest of times, and when it is available, it's not substantially below that amount)2) By any chance is it possible that Room Mate Grace Hotel will become available? It's possible, but this property is not seen that often, so i wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it. However, i will add that any time you have your sights set for a specific hotel with either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. However, is this is the hotel you really want, it is currently on sale HERE for $134/nite and refundable up until a few days before your arrival (always check cancellations policy, dates, and other details of your stay at the landing page after clicking the link). You could book this as a back-up while you wait and see if anything else of interest becomes available in the next few weeks (but i'd only do this if you're comfortable with the $134/nite for this property these dates... as there is a chance rates go up from here and the offers deteriorate (in either price, star rating, or quality) instead of improve)Also, keep in mind that your stay includes Valentine's Day, which is typically a very busy nite for hotels. If a hotel doesn't offer PRICELINE or HOTWIRE inventory for this one nite (because they can sell most rooms on their own at full price) then that hotel is out of the running as an option for your full stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide an dhow it goes or if we can be of further help. fernandasantarem Posted December 29, 2013 Author Report Posted December 29, 2013 Any guesses on the 3.5* Hotel at Times Sq Theatre District area at Hotwire (Fitness center, Business Center, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility)?Thank you!
thereuare Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 I'm not currently seeing this property offered when searching HOTWIRE for your dates... are you still seeing the above on your own search? If so, what is the room rate per nite? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
