thereuare Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.I'm not seeing rates that high for these dates... what star rating and zone(s) are you looking to stay in? What rates are you seeing and what rates were you expecting to see? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Alex02 Posted December 23, 2013 Author Report Posted December 23, 2013 I went up to 120$ for 5* in strip north and strip vicinty south. I see posts here that got 5* hotel on the strip for less than 100$.

thereuare Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Sub-$100 in Las Vegas for weekend dates is usually only available at the slowest of times, and while rates are not terribly high for these dates, it's not the slowest of times either (especially given a 3 day weekend for many who will look to use this as a mini-getaway)Your not far off from a win if you're able to increase your budget a bit further... HOTWIRE has a 5* hotel in the Strip South zone for $136/nite with:Free Parking Free Internet Suite Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... my best guess for this property would be the Vdara (with an outside chance at it being the Four Seasons, but this one is seen very rarely). You could increase your PRICELINE bidding up to $135/nite and if that is rejected take this HOTWIRE offer for $136/nite. Are you willing to increase your budget another $15/nite?Let us know your thoughts as to how you'd like to proceed or if you'd like help with a suggested bidding strategy. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Alex02 Posted December 23, 2013 Author Report Posted December 23, 2013 Thank you for the detailed reply.I'll see if i can add increase to 135.Two more questions1. What is more likely if I'll wait for a week or two with the bidding, the prices will go up or down?2. In name your price, is it always possible add nights to the stay (after winning a bid) or the hotel decide whether suggest this or not? Thanks,Alex
thereuare Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 1. What is more likely if I'll wait for a week or two with the bidding, the prices will go up or down?Nobody can say... it all depends upon how new reservations/cancellations come in to currently expected new reservations/cancellations. Hotels, especially in Vegas, spend a lot of money on sophisticated programs trying to predict this supply/demand. I'll also add that rates in Vegas change more frequently, and to a greater amount, than just about any other hotel market in the US.2. In name your price, is it always possible add nights to the stay (after winning a bid) or the hotel decide whether suggest this or not?The offer is often, but not always, given... BUT even when the offer to extend your stay is provided it does NOT ensure that you will be able to extend your stay. PRICELINE will come back with one of three responses:1) you've successfully extended your stay2) rooms are available but only for $xx more per nite (you then have the option to accept or reject the room at the higher price)3) no rooms available to extend your stay at any priceAlso, note that you can only extend your stay up to the same number of nites as your original purchase... so if you're still looking at a 3 nite stay, you would need to purchase 2 nites and then try to extend one additional nite (as opposed to purchasing 1 nite, learning the name of the hotel, and then try to extend for an additional 2 nites... it won't work that way). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
