MonicaP Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 Greetings,I’ve used betterbidding in the past to help my book hotels. I had to do a new registration since it had been quite a while since I last used BB and I couldn’t find my username/password.I need one night in the Las Olas/downtown Fort Lauderdale area for 19 April 2014. This is for a pre-cruise stay so I’d like to be near the port. This is for just myself. Looking at hot wire, 3-star hotels. I’d like to see if it’s possible to book for about $90. Amenities listed on hot Wire: Room typehot Rate Free BreakfastFree InternetPet friendlyAirport ShuttleSmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterPool(s)Business CenterInternet accessAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomHandicapped parkingRoll-in showerRate per night $211.00 Nights 1 Rooms (1 adult) 1 Subtotal $211.00 Tax recovery charges + fees$26.27Hotwire total $237.2795% recommendedCould this be the Hyatt Place? And yes, I will use the correct link to do my bidding. Thanks!
thereuare Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 Welcome (back) to BetterBidding!I'm confused by your post... the HOTWIRE hotel above is priced at $211/nite but you're looking for something at $90 or less? Are you hoping the price of this property drops OR are you looking to bid on PRICELINE with a $90 bidding limit? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. MonicaP Posted December 19, 2013 Author Report Posted December 19, 2013 Sorry, as I said, it's been a while and I see that I posted in the wrong area. Yes, I'd like to try via PRICELINE with that limit. Thanks,Monica
thereuare Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 Before bidding for a 3* up to $90 note that PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 3.5* hotel in the Downtown zone (Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Business Center, Fitness Center) offered at $94/nite. Using the 5% discount link code in my signature gives you an additional 5% OFF bring this PRICELINE EXPRESS deal down to $90/nite... so do you want to simply go with this PRICELINE EXPRESS deal since it is within your budget and higher rated than the 3* hotel you were intending to bid on, lower your budget for a 3* hotel, or first try bidding for a 3.5* property? My guess for this PRICELINE EXPRESS property would be the Riverside Hotel, but there is no way to know if this is the hotel you would get if you decided to bid for this trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. MonicaP Posted December 19, 2013 Author Report Posted December 19, 2013 One reason I'm hoping (and I know I shouldn't hope for a specific hotel) that the 3* is the Hyatt Place, is that friends are also staying there. I would need to look on google maps for the location of the Riverside Hotel. I also need to check to see if Riverside has complimentary shuttle service.Since it's been so long using this site, I'm trying to play catch up on all that I need to do - see where the hotels are located, all of the amenities, etc.So, maybe for now I'll do all my reading/research and then post a new message on the priceline forum. Thanks,Monica
thereuare Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 Just continue this thread and the entire thread will be moved to the correct section of the board once you win a hotel and use the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right corner of the page.Note that there is not a very high correlation between the hotel currently offered on HOTWIRE and the one that you will receive when bidding on PRICELINE. As well, if HOTWIRE has this a hotel at $211/nite, you're chances of winning it on PRICELINE for $90 are almost nil. While you may be able to get a hotel deal at half off of 'regular' retail rates, you will not likely be able to cut a HOTWIRE rate in half as that is already a discounted rate and the difference between HOTWIRE and PRICELINE is not that great. MonicaP Posted December 22, 2013 Author Report Posted December 22, 2013 Could you please tell me your guess of the 3* Fort Lauderdale Airport is at $128? It shows wifi, pool, parking, dining, I think transportations, business office, fitness center. It shows guest rating of 8.0.Thanks,MonicaEdit: I just reviewed the PL map for hotel locations and I want to bid for a downtown hotel.
thereuare Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 ...your guess of the 3* Fort Lauderdale Airport... Edit: I just reviewed the PL map for hotel locations and I want to bid for a downtown hotel. Are you looking at a PRICELINE EXPRESS property in the Downtown zone OR are you looking to bid using PRICELINE 'Name Your Own Price'? If the latter, what is your desired star rating and maximum bid per nite? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
