Priceline Hotel: La Jolla 3.5* Priceline Express Deals ID help

I am looking for 4-rooms for 3-nights, starting Dec 22 thru Dec 25th.

We are currently looking at La Jolla, but would consider other recommended locations in the SD area.

There is currently a PL Exp. Deal 4* for $81 for those night with these amenities:

Pool

Business Ctr

Fitness Ctr

I have already tried 3.5* PL bidding up to $70/night and was hoping for the Sheraton with free wifi and $10 parking. I am concerned that if I go higher, I will likely be "upgraded" to a 4-star, since there is 4-star inventory on XD as listed above.

My guess is the 4* on XD is either the Hyatt of the Hilton, both with high parking charges and daily internet fees.

Both the Hyatt and the Hilton would be possibilities, and i think the Hotel La Jolla would be a a candidate as well.

What looks to be the San Diego Marriott La Jolla is offered on HOTWIRE for $94/nite and gets an excellent 4.5/5.0 TA rating. I'm not sure how much parking and internet are at the Marriott, but if that is too much HOTWIRE also has a 3* in the zone for $98/nite which i'm guessing is the Best Western Plus Inn by the Sea, which includes breakfast.

I am currently only getting one hotel hit on HOTWIRE for the three nights for four rooms and that is the $98 3* with free internet and breakfast. When I search for one room on those three nights I do get a $94 4*, but, surprisingly, no $98 3*. In fact there are no 3* listings at all for one night. How is it possible that there would be inventory for 4-rooms at 3*, but not for 1-room?

Just like hotels can put a minimum nite restriction on a reservation, they could also only make inventory available for multiple room purchases.

Using the EASY VIEW TAB at BiddingHelper.com and there is both a 4* and 3* hotel offered in this zone when searching for 4 rooms.

4* La Jolla $101/nite (although i'm not sure if this is the same 4* i saw earlier, as i believe i may have mistakenly been searching for 3 rooms earlier... if this is an option for you at this price i'll investigate further to gain more insight)
