there are two hotels on hotewire I would like to book for 12-16 to 12-18. They are both 3 stars and one is in Chelsea while the other is in MSG-HK

Chelsea one includes free breakfast, free internet pet friendly, fitness center and business center. The cost is $96.

The Madison Square Garden- Hell's Kitchen one includes free breakfast, free internet, fitness center and business center and the cost is $104.

I've never been to downtown Ny either and would like to stay as close to times square as possible so any advise would be helpful on which of these hotels would be better to stay in once there identified.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

NOTE that to see the complete amenities associated with each you will need to do the following:

1) search HOTWIRE and select the offer from the search results page

2) click the BOOK NOW button

3) in the TRIP SUMMARY BOX click the 'See more' link at the end of the amenities

Following the method above, do you see more amenities listed for each of these HOTWIRE offers?

Best guess for the Chelsea property would be the Holiday Inn Express New York City Madison Square Garden... i don't have a guess for the MSG property.

However, i think there are better values for similar or not much more, what is your maximum room rate per nite for this trip?

I was hoping to get something around that $100 price which I know is pretty cheap but it seems that holiday inn is decent. What attracted me to both of these is the free breakfast. That will save me and my wife about 20-30 bucks a day.

What other options were you thinking of that were good deals?

HOTWIRE has a 4.5* in the MTE zone for $135/nite which i suspect is The New York Palace which gets great reviews and would a big jump in quality vs. the 3* hotels above... but no free breakfast.

The Yotel is not my favorite location but it gets great reviews too and is available for $99/nite, but again, no free breakfast.

You can usually get inexpensive breakfast at a good 'new york bagel shop' for ~$5/pp (or less from a cart on the street) or a hot egg sandwich from any of the bodegas/luncheonette places that offer egg sandwich and breakfast specials for about $3-$5... these are counter service where you then take your tray to a table yourself, so you save on having to leave a tip as well.

However, it really depends what you're looking for from this stay... if the free breakfast is what is important to you then go with one of the previous offers.

If a hotel shows as $95 and I'm booking it for this coming Monday; do you think the price will go down if i wait to book until tomorrow or Sunday or should I just go ahead and book now?

Posted

Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move even higher, between now and your stay.

However, a hotel that you're happy with for less than $100 in New York City seems like a very good deal and i would sooner act now than wait. If the price were to come down I wouldn't expect it to be by much, yet the price could move substantially higher and/or this hotel could disappear from the offers entirely. If you're happy with the hotel offered, I'd be more inclined to take it now as there would seem to be more potential risk than reward by waiting.
