mcgonkers Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 hey people,I am looking to book a 4.5 to 5 star hotel with a view over central park. I have never been to new york so im not sure what area would be best, and what my chances would be of finding these particular requirements at a price that is manageable. Im new to this site and priceline in general. any info would be greatly appreciated. I want to make this trip special as may not get back to new york again. thanks for reading.Regards,Paul
thereuare Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!...with a view over central park. The concept of PRICELINE and HOTWIRE is that you can get a great deal on a standard hotel room, but you give up some of the control in exchange for the discount. Since PRICELINE / HOTWIRE hotels are for standard rooms, you won't be able to designate that you want a room overlooking Central Park, which is usually costs a premium over standard rooms. You may be able to negotiate something with the hotel upon check-in, but the hotel may not be able (or willing) to offer you an upgrade (even if you are willing to pay an additional fee). As well, you can choose the zone that the hotel will be located in, but even if it is a zone near central park, there is no way to assure that any rooms will overlook the park (as the hotel may not be parkside and/or there may be other buildings blocking the hotel from the park). What are the dates of your stay and your expected budget per nite for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 As noted, PRICELINE and HOTWIRE do not offer upgrades and Central Park View is a paid upgrade when available. It becomes a matter of: would you like to spend a lot for a central park view (and, understandably, a beautiful view that is any time of year), or would spending less (or a lot less) on a hotel that may not have that view but would be more centrally located?)If you spend less on the hotel, that's money that can be used towards other memorable things around the city (special meals, museums, etc.)If you are still looking for a central park view, let us know and we would be happy to offer suggestions, although this would be regular rate. If you would like us to offer HOTWIRE or PRICELINE suggestions, let us know as well. What would be your desired max budget and what are your date/s of travel?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
