AztecWolverine
Many priceline bidders have won the Hyatt Regency Orange County at very low prices when bidding for 3* Disneyland area during the past year. At low occupancy times they've even won at $25 (12/18-23/04)and $30 (1/8-11/05). But at high occupancy times, bids of even $65 and $70 have been rejected. Occupancy rates and room rates have skyrocketed this year because of the 50th Anniversary Celebration. Regular Expedia rates for 2* hotels across from the East gate entrance have frequently been in the $80's, and quality has been low (we encountered cockroaches at the Del Sol two nights in a row, and the Desert Inn next door is also lousy). YOU WILL BE MUCH HAPPIER STAYING AT A 3* PRICELINE HOTEL!! For people who have a chance to plan their trip ahead of time, and choose their dates, I've copied the list of low occupancy times from the Hyatt web site (times when they offer groups and meetings special low rates). So if you want to maximize your chances of getting a low bid for the Hyatt accepted, choose the following dates:EXTRA VALUE DATES Meeting Offer: (dates when they have lower occupancy, and can handle adding a convention or meeting to their schedule). (If you have any trouble with your bids being rejected, you might want to re-check this list from the Hyatt web site, since they may have added an event in the interim...Choose Meetings tab and EXTRA VALUE DATES icon, and scan down the mostly alphabetical list of their hotels until you reach the HROC...)Oct 19-25 , 2005Oct 30-31 , 2005Nov 1-2 , 2005Nov 12-17 , 2005Nov 28-30 , 2005Dec 1-4 , 2005Dec 11-26 , 2005Jan 2-4 , 2006Jan 8 , 2006Jan 13-15 , 2006Jan 26-29 , 2006Feb 5-7 , 2006Feb 17-23 , 2006Feb 26-28 , 2006Mar 1-3 , 2006Mar 27-29 , 2006Apr 9-26 , 2006May 1-31 , 2006June 1-30 , 2006July 1-10 , 2006July 15-16 , 2006July 23-31 , 2006Aug 1-24 , 2006Aug 29-31 , 2006Sep 1-17 , 2006Sep 22-25 , 2006Oct 1-5 , 2006Oct 29-31 , 2006Nov 5-7 , 2006Nov 12-14 , 2006Nov 27-30 , 2006Dec 1-30 , 2006 Link to comment
AztecWolverine
Here is the new updated Hyatt extra value dates:Hyatt Regency Orange County 11999 Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, California, USA. Hotel Information Meeting Offer Nov 27-30 , 2006 Dec 12-31 , 2006 Jan 1-10 , 2007 Apr 1-14 , 2007 May 8-15 , 2007 June 8-18 , 2007 Aug 20-31 , 2007 Sep 1-14 , 2007 Dec 3-25 , 2007 WOW! They have severely limited these extra value dates. Will that mean they will attract fewer meetings and conventions? Or have they limited the dates because they no longer have as great a need to offer them to attract business? That remains to be seen. Perhaps their occupancy has been so high this year they don't need to offer discounted rates....Maybe there won't be as much Priceline availability either. On the other hand, if they have underestimated the affect Disney's 5oth Anniversary has had on occupancy this year, then there should be more Priceline availability....We'll see!Remember, if you have a choice when you plan to visit the Disney area, choose these dates and you will have a better chance of snagging the Hyatt through Priceline and Hotwire.... AztecWolverine
To get current list: go to Hyatt.com, click on Meetings & Events, choose Meeting Special Offers, Under Dividends choose Extra Value Dates. Then click on "all available dates," and you'll get a list of all Hyatts that participate (even international sites like in Mexico, Jordan, China, Thailand, and Australia, etc.). Below are the current low season dates for both the Hyatt Regency Orange County, and the Hyatt Regency Irvine -- another popular Priceline hotel for Disney proximity, with very good Priceline rates. Note that the HROC has been upgraded to 3.5*. The HRIrvine is rated 4*.NOTE: Bids have been won recently for $41-45 for the HROC, $55-65 for the HRNewport Beach, and $55-64 for the HRIrvine.Hyatt Regency Orange County 11999 Harbor Blvd., Los Angeles, California ****NOTE: HOTEL IS NOT IN LA -- I believe it is in Anaheim, just a stone's throw north of Garden Grove.*****Hotel Information Extra Value Dates June 1-9 , 2008 Aug 17-20 , 2008 Sep 1-13 , 2008 Sep 18-22 , 2008 Sep 26-30 , 2008 Oct 1-11 , 2008 Nov 1-5 , 2008 Dec 7-31 , 2008 Apr 1-12 , 2009 May 3-16 , 2009 July 5-18 , 2009 Aug 1-18 , 2009 Sep 11-20 , 2009 Oct 11-18 , 2009 Oct 22-31 , 2009 Dec 1-31 , 2009Hyatt Regency Irvine 17900 Jamboree Road, Orange County, California Hotel Information Extra Value Dates July 1-6 , 2008 Sep 1-4 , 2008 Nov 23-26 , 2008 Dec 21-28 , 2008 Jan 1-4 , 2009 Apr 9-12 , 2009 May 25-28 , 2009 July 1-5 , 2009 Sep 7-10 , 2009 Nov 22-25 , 2009 Dec 20-27 , 2009 Link to comment
