ai03mj23 Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Hi,Going to NYC for the first time with my girlfriend. She wants to do a lot of tourist activities along with eating some good food. I have only been to New York once and stayed at the New Yorker and loved the location. We are looking to stay somewhere similar. Are the Upper East Side and Upper West Side hotels good places to stay for first timers? We are looking for a bidding strategy anywhere in Manhattan except way south. I know it's super expensive this week but are trying to do a 4* for $300 max, possibly a little more if we have too.Thanks.

ai03mj23 Posted December 2, 2013 Author Report Posted December 2, 2013 Thanks for the welcome. Clicked both links and yes on $300/night.
thereuare Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Upper East Side and Upper West Side are do-able, but not ideal, imo. If you end up in the southern part of either zone it can be fine, but the issue is that each zone extends quite a bit north which makes them less centrally located, as well as having limited subway lines available. However, at current rates my guess is that a 4* hotel in midtown at $300 will likely fall a little short, so you may have to make compromises between increasing your budget, lowering your star rating, or staying outside of midtown. If you let us know which zone(s), by PRICELINE name, are acceptable we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ai03mj23 Posted December 2, 2013 Author Report Posted December 2, 2013 Thanks for the help.I would say:Central Park SouthMidtown EastMidtown WestTimes SquareMadison Square GardenHell's KitchenIs ESB better than upper east or west side? If so, we would be open to it.Thanks again.
ai03mj23 Posted December 2, 2013 Author Report Posted December 2, 2013 Via Priceline express there is a 3 1/2 star midtown east hotel available for $325.Amenities include restaurant, business center, and fitness center and it has a guest rating of 7.0. Any idea which one this is?
thereuare Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 As the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer is above your listed budget and lower than the star rating you indicated you wanted to bid, is your first plan to bid on a 4* up to $300? If that is rejected will you then try bidding on a 3.5* up to $300?... or is there some scenario where you would first take the 3.5* PRICELINE EXPRESS property at $325??Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ai03mj23 Posted December 2, 2013 Author Report Posted December 2, 2013 Plan is to bid 4* up to $300. Sorry for adding to the confusion with the priceline express post.
thereuare Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 The PRICELINE EXPRESS property may not be the one offered once you're done trying at the 4* (and 3.5*??) levels... or if you are successful it may not even be necessary to research, so we like to only spend the time to research if it's a realistic/viable option at this time. When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE and HK...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS and MTW...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MSG and TS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MSG, HK...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MTW, CPS...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MSG, HK...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, HK...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, TS, MSG...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, MSG...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, HK...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MSG, HK, MTE...Bid $250, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $260, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MSG, HK, MTW...Bid $250, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $260, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MSG, HK, CPS...Bid $250, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $260, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, MSG...Bid $265, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $270, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $275, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, HK...Bid $265, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $270, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $275, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MSG, HK, MTE, MTW, CPS...Bid $280, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $280, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $285, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MSG, HK, MTE, MTW, TS...Bid $280, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $280, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $285, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, MSG, HK...Bid $290, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $295, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $300Any questions feel free to ask,Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
