I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool, and then click the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? This is what i see for the 4* hotel in this zone when searching for your dates:

Guaranteed Amenities: Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Fitness Center, Free Parking, Business Center, Guest Score 8/10 or Higher.

Since it doesn't list Casino, does this mean it will be Vdara? This is the hotel I want. But the other two options I can think of are Cosmopolitan and Aria, but they both have a casino inside.

5* Vicinity South - in the review screen if the guaranteed amenities doesn't list casino can I assume it's the Vdara?

No... when using the 'Name Your Own Price' side of their service, the guaranteed amenities shown are amenities that are present at every hotel of that star rating in the zone, not for a specific hotel that you are bidding on. As the Vdara is an option at the 5* level in this zone, the 'guaranteed amenities' can't show the Casino amenity since that is not offered at every hotel in the zone. At this point in the bidding process, PRICELINE hasn't even checked inventory for your dates yet.

Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, but keep in mind that the rodeo finals take place during your trip, which is the one big event in Vegas that effects hotel pricing each year.

$99 is most likely Treasure Island - LV North 4*

$130 most likely Venetian - LV North 5*

$131 - LV 4* is the one that stumps me,,,,what can it be?

And after looking at the Elara I am loving it. I see the lowest rate for Elara is $161. Is there any deals lower?

My best guess for each:

4* LV Strip North.

Treasure Island

5* LV Strip North.

Palazzo or Wynn

4* LV Strip Vicinity South.

my guess would be Tropicana, but other possibilities too (Westin, Planet Hollywood, New York New York, etc)... but with the 5* Strip North above going for the same price, that one would seem like a much better deal than this one regardless of which 4* hotel this one is

I'm confused about Priceline name your own price.

When it states "median retail price", Do people normally pay below or over the median price?

And does the number of room effect the bidding? (More rooms less expensive)

I've been trying to bid two rooms for dates 12/06 thru 12/08 for 5* Las Vegas North Vicinity. The median retail price is $102. I bid up to $115 and I still get rejected.

In theory you should be bidding below the 'median retail' price, but this figure has been shown to be shown to be flawed in many situations and it is meaningless in determining a bidding price or strategy. If you want to see 'real' retail rates for a given area you can use our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com, search 3 miles from 'Las Vegas Strip' for your dates, UNcheck all star ratings except for '5 stars', and then you can easily see the hotels that would be included within the Strip North zone and their retail prices. :)

Usually the number of rooms is a non-factor, but when it is a factor, it is to the downside. For example, the 'best rate' at a given hotel may be $80, but if they only offer one room at this rate and you need multiple rooms, then the next lowest priced hotel that is offering at least the number of rooms that you need will be offered.

I've been trying to bid two rooms for dates 12/06 thru 12/08 for 5* Las Vegas North Vicinity. The median retail price is $102. I bid up to $115 and I still get rejected.

As noted above the rate is flawed. With this noted, you're not likely too far off, as at current prices i think you're likely looking at $120-$140 to be successful for a 5* hotel within this zone for your dates.

If that were the case then I should just get the Venetian for $130 from PRICELINE EXPRESS. The bidding isn't any use to me.

A 5* hotel in the Strip North zone was not offered at $130/nite for your dates when i looked last nite, but i see that one is now available. Given your previous rejection at $115 you're likely looking between $115-$130, which if you win at the lower end of this range, is still less than the PRICELINE EXPRESS rate. Either way, both are a good 30%+ less than retail rates, so i would suggest bidding on PRICELINE up to the PRICELINE EXPRESS rate, and if still rejected, then take the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal. Bidding on PRICELINE is usually, but not always, your least expensive option... you won't know if it is/isn't in this instance until you bid up to that amount on PRICELINE.
