Please remember to follow-up your threads with whatever you end up doing for the stay, even if you choose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc. as it helps keep the board better organized and more useful to everyone, and is also a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your trip.

I'm not certain, but my guess for this one would be the Newstead Bellmont Hills.

Since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

PS- please update your email address associated with the board so we stop getting your bounced emails. We have unsubscribed you to any of the forums/topics you have previously subscribed to receive email notifications from.

Thanks for the help! There was another hotel that's adult-only that seemed like it could match, so I didn't go for it (we have a baby). It's gone now.

I was thinking about making an opaque bid at a star rating that excludes that hotel (if I do, I'll make it through the PRICELINE link). Do you know if the opaque star rating for a given hotel corresponds to Priceline's non-opaque star rating for the same hotel?

The PRICELINE EXPRESS and 'name your own price' star ratings should be the same.

Note that when you bid the star rating you select is the minimum that you are willing to accept, so if you bid (for example) 3 stars you could receive anything that is 3* rated or higher. However, i don't think that PRICELINE includes any 'adult only' properties in the bidding side of their service (unless indicated as a 'guaranteed amenity' or mentioned within the zone name)... although their service stipulates that reservations are only guaranteed for double occupancy, you could be 1adult/1child and therefore they couldn't award you an adult only property without somehow indicating it as such beforehand.

To continue my comments above a bit further, PRICELINE's terms do stipulate 'double occupancy only and after that it's at the discretion of the hotel'. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room that can accommodate double occupancy plus a baby, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. While babies/infants are not an issue in most locations, it's still a risk that you should be aware of and need to accept.

If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc). You could even search HOTWIRE for only 2adults/0children since they define 'children' as ages 2-17 (i'm assuming your baby is under 2 years old) and then when you win a hotel call the hotel to confirm that the room type assigned can accommodate your child. In this manner if the hotel has an issue, you could have HOTWIRE intervene and help on your behalf since you searched according to their terms (ie- not including the child since under age 2)... but if any problems with the PRICELINE reservation they may be less likely to help since they indicate their reservations are only guaranteed for double occupancy (regardless of age) and you'll actually be three guests.

Good points - I hadn't thought about 1adult/1child. It's true, there's a risk with an "undeclared baby", but we're willing to take that risk. He's turning 2 in 6 months, so I'll have take that into account when booking hotels (opaque or non).

I made a lowball bid on 4.5* (no dice). I'll have to think about how high I'm willing to go - who knows if they even have any opaque hotels left, given PRICELINE EXPRESS and HOTWIRE have none for my dates. Their Bermuda inventory may have been pretty sparse to begin with.

I'll post if anything comes of it.

Please post whatever you decide to do for this stay... even if not PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Ideally all threads should have a 'conclusion' as it helps keep the board better organized and useful for everyone, as well as is a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your stay.

If PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE are not showing any availability you can try searching our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com where you search within a radius of any address and easily see on a map how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating or to stay closer/further from your ideal location.

Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of further help along the way.
