wiredhot Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 Hi all,Thanks for the resource, appears to be a great site. I'm trying to identify some hotels listed for Midtown Central at the moment. I followed the links provided to the hotwire site, searched for 1 room, 2 adults from the 17th dec til 24th dec. I'm trying to identify the following:4* Midtown Central 90% rating 1555 reviews (currently $165)Pet friendlySmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterInternet accessI believe this is probably the Sheraton, and if so would I be better trying to get in a successful a bid of $110 from Priceline as I've seen others get this?3.5* Midtown Central 80% recommended 36 reviews (currently $142)Pet friendlyBoutique HotelFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterInternet accessInterested in what this one could be, haven't seen any identified with the amenities. Thanks for your time!edit: also if you happen to spot any potential bargains around the $150 mark in Midtown central/east or TS feel free to make a suggestion :D
thereuare Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Best guess for the 4* would be the Sheraton while my guess for the 3.5* would be the Hudson hotel (which has notoriously small rooms)You could try beating the HOTWIRE rate by bidding on PRICELINE, but i think there is a good chance that the $110/nite rate is not currently available for your dates as i believe we have only seen this rate for dates in November thus far (and even then not available for every date in November)HOTWIRE has what appears to be the well reviewed Kitano for $158/nite if that is if any interestPlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. wiredhot Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 Thanks for the quick reply, is that the one listed in the Empire State Building area? The Kitano hotel seems quite decent too judging by the reviews... Although the Sheraton may be a better location. I have also found the W New York on priceline for 164 a night and cheaper fees make it the overall cheapest option.Decisions, decisions... Any recommendations one way or the other would be very much welcomed :DIn any case, I will be sure to use the links when I make the purchase.
thereuare Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 The one i believe is the Kitano is 4* rated and in the ESB zone with:Boutique Business Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Roll-in Shower The location of all three properties is fine, imo. The difference in cost per nite between the three seems relatively small (although i understand it can add up over a 7 nite stay) so it will really come down to type of hotel you want for this trip, reviews, etc. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. wiredhot Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 Thankfully at the last minute I realized the W New York on PRICELINE wasn't actually the TS one, and was another one nearby not nearly as highly rated. Ended up going through the HOTWIRE link for hotwire and chose the 4* in Midtown Central and it was the Sheraton. Hopefully we enjoy our stay and christmas in NYC! Final price $167 a night plus taxes. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and are looking forward to your trip!Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase.
