Hi there,

I am new to hotwire.

I just booked 2 hotels in Orlando and now I need a hotel from 13-19 december. I prefer a hotel in south beach (ocean drive or collins avenue)

There are so many hotels, it's difficult for a newbie ;-)

I now found this one:

Best guess for this property would be the Avalon Hotel.

HOWEVER, this 3.5* property is priced at $141/nite... why not the 4* hotel priced less at $119/nite hotel with not only a higher star rating but also a higher TA rating (of 4.5/5.0 which is excellent)?

... best guess for this hotel would be the Pelican Hotel.

For the Oceanfront Collins property you posted above is this 3* rated? If so, I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool, and then click the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? This is what i see for the $100 3 star hotel when searching for your dates (2adults/0children):

Cost 85 euro per night, so that will be 115 dollar per night.

Please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.

Any links we post to direct search results will expire about 30 minutes after posting. I am still seeing the 4* hotel in the Ocean Drive zone with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating for $120/nite... are you interested in this property or do you think a 3* for almost the same price with a lower TA rating and a lower user recommended rating is a better deal?

You can enter 1 child but the offers may change and/or the price may go up. If the price goes up i would simply book at 2adults and then once you receive the hotel call them and let them know you have a one year old with you and what accommodations are available (crib, pak n play, rollaway, etc). If there is a problem with the room size then call HOTWIRE to resolve since you did search as per their parameters (not declaring your child since under 2 years old)... if you can find the same property for 2adults/1child and it's the same price (or within a few dollars), then i would book that way to avoid any complications.

What is the zone and price in US Dollars? Is this the 4* in the Ocean Drive zone? If so, see my post above where i guessed that this was the Pelican.

The problem is that I don't see the hotel when I am entering a child (2-17 years). Are you guys in America normally easy with babies/kids? Maybe some hotels in Miami refuse them?

I couldn't wait :P

Just talked with the livechat from hotwire. They say I needed to search for 2 adults. It was no problem, because babies till 2 years are free.

Now I have the Pelican Hotel (happy!!), but when I look at the booking.com description, it says at children:

Extra beds are not available.

There is no capacity for extra beds in the room.

What do I need to do now? Hotwire chat can't help me, I need to call them.

As indicated above in my previous post, you know call the hotel and let them know that you have a one year old with them and you want to see what accommodations are available for a one year old (pak n play, crib, etc) and ensure that the room will accommodate the three of you. If the hotel states that the room can not, then you contact HOTWIRE, let them know that you searched for 2adults/0children because your child is under 2 years old, and that the hotel is saying that the room will not accommodate the three of you. HOTWIRE will then contact the hotel and either 1) work something out with them, 2) cancel the reservation (and likely off you some 'hot dollars' to use on your next purchase... and of course the hotel may be able to accommodate your child and you never need to contact HOTWIRE to help in resolving.

I would follow the above, but if you are overseas and no means to contact the hotel (you can try email, skype, etc) you could contact HOTWIRE and ask them to call the hotel to confirm that there will be a way to accommodate your child.
