Hotwire Hotel: help id gold coast hotel Australia

Hi

Has anyone bidded a on a hotel on the gold coast in Australia. IV been bidding for 28 December till 2nd January 5 nights. IV had no luck.

PRICELINE has no express deals for this location.Could this mean they don't have any hotels for this location on name your own price?

I can't find anything about any winning bids for the gold coast Australia.

There is some overlap, but all three sides of PRICELINE (bidding, retail, and express deals) use a different universe of hotels, so while a lack of something showing in the PRICELINE EXPRESS section may indicate low supply/inventory for your dates, it certainly does not exclude you from getting a winning bid.

What star level have you been bidding for and what has been your maximum bid so far?

The issue is likely that you're dates include New Year's Eve which is traditionally a very busy time for hotels and many will likely sell-out on their own and therefore won't offer any deep discounts for this nite (or at least not willing to give the hotel away at a deep discount 3 months in advance of the arrival)

Using MAPS and HOTELS.com the best rate i'm able to find at a 4* or better hotel in this area is $250+ per nite, and given the high demand for these dates as discussed above, hotels are not likely at this time willing to discount ~$100/nite. You could wait it out and see if rates come down closer to your dates, but if hotels begin to take on more bookings then they currently expect, then you could see prices rise further from here.

Does HOTWIRE have anything of interest? What is your game plan should $165 continue to be rejected... will you cancel the trip, lower your star rating, increase your budget, head someplace else for the New Year Holiday, etc?

I think i will stay at 165 for a week then i will move up to 200. If i still get rejected i will try for Melbourne 4 or 5 star.

Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Neither hotel has yet been reported to the board... my guess for the 4.5* would be the Mantra Bel Air, but with this priced at $200+ for the nite and your current bidding only up to $165/nite, would you first sooner bid higher on PRICELINE before taking this offer?

The Quality Hotel Mermaid Waters would be a possibility for the 4 star hotel.
