plken Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 Hi there. I need a bidding strategy for a pre-cruise hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Will be driving down so we can expand our zones a little bit but I would prefer to stay in Downtown area. Beach would be the next zone, then FLL airport zone. Would like either a 4* or 3.5* for $100 or under. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
thereuare Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 What is more important, zone or star rating? For instance, if you bid for a 4* hotel up to $100 in the Downtown zone, do you then prefer a 3.5* hotel in the Downtown zone OR do you prefer to try for a 4* hotel in the Beach and/or Airport zone(s)?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. plken Posted November 3, 2013 Author Report Posted November 3, 2013 i think since we'll have a car the star rating is more important
thereuare Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 One more question...Did you want to bid for a 4* hotel up to $100 in the Downtown zone, then if rejected try for a 4* hotel in the Beach zone, then if rejected try for a 4* in the Airport zone... or is the objective the least expensive 4* hotel in any of these zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click each of these previous links before replying.Thanks. plken Posted November 4, 2013 Author Report Posted November 4, 2013 i guess i would say we just want the least expensive in any of those zones.

plken Posted November 5, 2013 Author Report Posted November 5, 2013 Have clicked on the links. What would you suggest for bidding strategy?
thereuare Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 At current prices it doesn't look like $100 will be enough for a 4* hotel, but you can give it a try as follows...There are no 4* hotels currently offered in the Airport zone so that leaves Downtown and the Beach zones for your 4* bidding up to $100.When bidding 4* in the Fort Lauderdale region you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE..Select 4* Beach...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE..Select 4* Downtown and Beach...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $99, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. plken Posted November 6, 2013 Author Report Posted November 6, 2013 I tried the strategy above but with no success. How would I change that if I were willing to go to a 3.5*? I wouldn't even mind a 3* if I could get the Hyatt House or Hyatt Place in the airport zone. We've stayed there before and they're both nice and in good location.
thereuare Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 At the 3.5* level the previously mentioned as acceptable Airport zone becomes a possibility so we will include that in a strategy. At the 3.5* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* Downtown...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3.5* Beach...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3.5* Airport...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3.5* Downtown and Beach...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3.5* Downtown and Airport...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3.5* Downtown, Beach, Airport...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
